As a kid I seemed to collect ford mustangs and chevy camaros. Moved out west and have been doing Jeeps ... Well want a cruiser. I can't seem to afford a 33-37 hot rod or mostly complete one sooo I found what I think is a deal... 48 chevy coupe. All complete missing the starter. Previous owner gave it to a rebuilder that since went mia.
Damn, got a full set of bumper wraps and a pull-down guard too. If you don't want that stuff I'll buy it off of you.
Well I got it home and slid into the shop. I first gutted alot of the interior. It still had all the original cloth hanging everywhere. Literally hanging. I wanted that off before I got it into the shop. More to come will post pics later in the week. Pretty happy in all with the car. More rust than I had wished but that is what it is all about.
good luck on your project...I sold a 48 coupe a few months ago and wish I had it back...they are so flexible in what you can do with them...rod, custom, taildragger, gasser, lowrider...have fun
Thanks all. I spent two hours cleaning the inside, going through all the goodies left behind. Old sockets, lots of finish nails, and of course lots of seeds and dirt from our mice freinds. I hooked up a 6 volt charger for fun. I wanted to see what works. The headlights, spotlight, radio shows a red color, and the dome light works. The motor turns over maually, But from the amount of old caked oil on it probably not very well. The throttle linkage is stuck, the brakes are stuck, the transmition shifts with the clutch, and the ebrakes work. More work with the vacum and air hose to get it cleaned up. I have pulled the rear seat and cleaned off all the old material. the front seat is next and then I will update with pictures. The wife would not even sit in it to steer it into the garage. All I could do is laugh.
