My dad's buddy Don Bragg raced out there. Tex Smith has a book called Roaring Roadsters which talks about him quite a bit. Oddly, I never knew any of this until well after he died. We ended up just reading the book like everyone else. Thanks for posting the link!

Jonny Doyle told me that back in the day he, Don Bragg, and another guy would load up their cars in SA on Friday afternoon, go race in Austin, then to Waco, then to Abilene (!) on Sunday afternoon, then back to SA and go to work Monday morning half dead from exhaustion. Don was a great Model A guy and had a beautiful '30 roadster. He did a valve job on my '30 coupe in 1970 which lasted until I blew a head gasket more than 30 years later. He had a Conoco station on Fredericksburg Rd four blocks from my house, but I never knew about the racing connection either until after he was gone. My loss. Fearless
