The Annual Speed on Tweed was held over this past weekend & this may of been the last Anyway there was $45 million worth of historic race cars in attendance this year. Friday Ford Special Lago '27 Chev Speedster '64 EH Holden
Fabulous ! As a lifer Jag guy..the two D-Types and that glorious C-Type XKC 001. Are the Ds repros ? or original. I see a repro C Type..the one wearing XKC 001 would be extremely important...first one built. The Tony Rolt C Type XKC001 was listed as scrapped/deystroyed at factory..so I am guessing this to be a repro..still a wonderful car. Only 54 C Types ever built.. ..fantastic to see at one show. Every car there is beautiful... Thanks for the pictures
Crager OHV A Lago This is the Maybach special it uses a straight 6 out of a WW2 German light tank. It was on the cover of Floyd Clymer's book "Special Racing Cars and Hot Rods of the World" & then my batteries went dead, but when I was leaving I was able to get one last shot of the paddock and show & shine. Cheers Jimmy
Thanks Jimmy, are you sure we are not distantly related? Between that early Chevy roadster pickup, that beautiful Ferrari, along with all the rest of those rolling artworks,I'd say we have similar taste in cars. Very good photos, sure will be a shame if you lose that event.
Thanks for the cool pix Jimmy. Would you believe all these years I thought speed on the Tweed was about a boat race ? Cheers Dago.
C types are exact replicas there may of been a real one, I don't know. The D types are real. No worries! Haha, no boats & yeah it is an awesome event.
Here is a video from Friday, The cars were given a police escort through town <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sj9KulhM4CU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sj9KulhM4CU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> & a vid from a couple years back, sorry it is a little shitty. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TmIqifvykc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4TmIqifvykc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Great coverage Jimmy. I forgot to mention the '22 Wikner Special (and matching T tourer), just too many fantastic cars to mention. I got talking to Rodger Eland(spelling?) about the Bentley that drove up from Melbourne. He said that they broke a camshaft and repaired it on the road. (He also said that my 2.5 year old Son looked like he'd make a good race driver and that he should know.) Great event, I sure hope that we don't loose it. I heard something about CAMS possibly taking it on(?).
Amazing stuff - love it all. I like the Studes, of course - but I'm a sucker for C-Type Jags. They are so graceful in line with simple sweeping curves. Awesome!~
As an aspiring metal head I hope to bend it as beautifully as those kats at jag did back in the 50's n 60's.Thanx for the insiration.
Outstanding stuff Jimmy - thanks a bunch. Pity there were no shots of the Talbot Lago T26C engine - I want one for a hot rod. Trouble is these restorers are so damned insensitive to the greater needs of us hot rodders. I mean why can't they just use a SBC and leave us their old junk engines?
