We're in the middle of doing inventory here, so I've come across some parts that were produced some time in the past but never quite made it to the pages of our catalog. For instance, we did these rear axle brackets because they were easier and cheaper to make as three flat plates. After they were completed, my dad didn't really like how they turned out. So there they sat on the shelf, waiting for their time. I think it's come. I sat there in my little inventory chair, wondering what use these plates could be to the world. I remembered some aluminum blocks we had made up a while ago for the first revision of our pro street rear four link kit, so I grabbed them and went over to the drill press. Here's what I came up with: As you can see, I drilled some holes through two axle bracket plates, then bolted the aluminum block in place. The advantage of this setup is the fine tuning you can do to the ride height. Our standard bracket has three holes on 1" centers. The aluminum block has two 3/8" holes on 7/8" centers. By drilling five 3/8" holes in the plates, you can have 7 mounting locations. The plates are $10/ea, and the blocks are $10/ea for a total of $60 for a pair. Your HAMB Alliance discount brings it to $54. These are limited quan***y parts, so if you want a pair, email me or call toll free. Thanks for your time DW Horton Welder Series Inc.
Just did a video this morning... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/e9H9fHHzS8E&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/e9H9fHHzS8E&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Funny that. But I think it deserves a spot on the regular board. Not only does it give the tech to go with it, half the cheap ***es here will just cut something like it out of plate themselves.
I appreciate your comments, and I'd like to hear more about where you guys think I should be posting stuff like this.
Honestly, we (moderators) have talked about this before. The conclusion we came to is that your stuff is just so damn smart and helpful that we let it ride. The same way we let stuff like the Hurst recaps and all of the early Ford stuff Spadaro does ride. We might eventually close the post, but no reason to lock someone out with good tech and product on a technicality.
Don't get me wrong, I think some(most) of his ideas are FANTASTIC. This one to me came on fast as a sell post more the tech. The frame "bends" one he did may have been pushing product as well, but it was certainly VERY technichal. Eh, I'm not a moderator(nor would I envy the job of keeping us knuckleheads in line), so I have no issues,,, more of an observation.
This is great to know... I sure don't want to get anyone upset, and I don't want it to seem like I'm getting any "favors". I'd be happy to post this in the HAMB O Dex if you feel that would be a more suitable place for it.
I'm also thinking a litle slack is afforded those that are Alliance Vendors. Offering the Alliance members a discount just makes me all excited and ****...
Doesn't matter what I think anyway, not my house, ya know? As for the "dex" yea I agree with the other guy,,, I never look there. Actually this is a nice clear pic for guys to "see how its done", so it is tech. Pay me no nevermind,,, I'm just a grumpy old fart.
Not at all, I'm glad you said something. I try and put "Welder Series" at the beginning of the ***le of posts like this so people don't open the thread if they don't like what we're doing. Thanks for your input!
It was mentioned that the cheap ***es will just copy it and build their own. So, I say let them. At least they will be copying a viable concept. Like most things, once you've gathered the material, cut the pieces, drilled the holes most (those with any active brain cells) will realize you can't duplicate something in this price range economically, not if your time means anyting to you.
