A buddy is looking at a car at Southern Motors in Clarkston and I'd like to have someone take a look at it and give an honest opinion on its condition and worth. I can't get the time off to make the drive with him and I don't want to see the guy get screwed on a deal, so if you can help me out send me a PM and I'll give you the details. And as a side note, if someone can help me and is at the PileUp you will have some free beers on me as a "thanks". Bill
I know of the place, Ive been there a number of times. Mostly of what I have seen there is Nice. Im not sure when I will be back up that way. But im sure some GMB will be in that area or live in that area. What car is he looking at? How Much are they asking?
As far as I have seen , from looking at cars from this place. They are not Cheap! they try to get top dollar or even maybe a bit more than what the market will bring. I have not seen too many piles of **** on this guys lot, but he does ask a high dollar for what he gets. He transports alot of them from all over the lower US to his place. maybe hes trying to recoup his transport costs? $27,9 for a 150..mm? better be one sweet *** 55-150. thats my opinion anyways. i dont see myself getting up that way anytime soon, but if it happens I will contact you.
How soon does he need it looked at? I may have time this weekend. I've heard good and bad about Southern motors, I've never delt with them personally but they always do have pretty lookin cars there.
I bought a car from them in the early 90's when you could deal with them on cars. They clean up southern cars, touch up paint and put new tires and rims on them for appearance. You need to check the mechanicals and look at receipts on what they tell you it has done. I think most of their cars are over priced but they did come down on my car when I bargined with them. If I was paying the money you are saying they want I would need to get it up on a hoist with someone in the clarkston area that knows cars like a shop with a good rep.
Aaron if you can get by this weekend or in the next week that's fine. I'm trying to keep him from getting too wound up about buying something. It's a red 2dr sedan for those who looked at their website. To me it looks like nothing has been done underneath, no power brakes, air or anything to justify the price. Thanks for the replies guys.
The place is not too far from where I work. I could take a look at it for you sometime next week if you would like. They have always seemed real pricey to me, like 25% plus too high.
I sent a couple of PM's to you guys. I agree the price is high, but I'd like him to hear if from someone besides me and have some "facts" to back it up. Thanks again for all the replies.
