I have my suspension set up with just the last leaf spring in the rear. Its a pickup so there isn't much for weight back there. I really don't wan't to spend the money on a monoleaf setup. BUt if its dangerous let me Know. Thanks.
Most likely yes. What kind of pickup? Suspension type? Engine/Trans? Where is the fuel cell? All those questions add up to get the spring choice. Even the lightest of T's usually have at least 4 springs in the pack.
Next Question, Does a monoleaf cause the suspension to be lower than it would be with just the one? Or do I have to ge the one with the reverse Ilet? I really like the height I have & have already set the bag-over-leaf system up.
Imagine running down the road at 90mph...and hitting bends and bumps...spend the money on a set up you don`t even have to think about....just because it sits nice on the drive does`nt mean squat...stance,safety and strength are more important.
Taking a leaf spring pack down to a single leaf is completly gay. There simply is not enough leaf there to not only control the vertical loads but the lateral load as well. It is not a question of IF but a questions on when. Dedicated mono leafs are built differently than pack leafs. At a minimum, I would suggest keeping the two longest leafs, use your bag over leaf set up and then get a lowering block to get you the rest of the way down. At that point you will use the air to pick you back up to ride height.
You can buy monoleaf springs in different configurations for ride height. Check Posie's web site or others. You can find what you need
if your running a torque tube it controlls the axle wind up and the air bag will carry the weight. if the bag is pushing down directly on the leaf and not mounted to the axle the leaf will fail.
Thanks!! Kreature Thanks to all, I'm not an idiot, just have never left the leafs in a suspension, I like to 4-link. This is just how the build is going this time. I've driven the thing around the block a few times, I just thought I would use the site for what is was made for, getting that Info you don't have yourself!
