hmm was a smart *** remark for sure... my coupe will be at hunnert...

larrys a great guy ive talked to him before, but we all build what we like, i dont expect anyone but me to like my coupe, thats ALL i care about, ME...

as far as larrys car, i think a few lil changes make it RULE, but he builds what he likes, doesnt mean i have to like it, but the "hmmm" comment isnt doubting his work, its just not my style..

i love how i caught all the slack when like 4 guys after me agreed hahaha

another day on the hamb, LOVE YOU GUYS! hahah

    Sorry, Mr. Webster.:D
Knucklehead is a term of endearment around here. If I were to call you an ***hole, I would be looking to insult you. Knucklhead, however, is more along the lines of "Looky here Buddy" spoken in a James Cagney voice.
    sheesh.

I'm sorry I offended your tender sensibilities.

as far as my Statement, (which used not only proper punctuation, but italics to emphasize my point, but I digress) I stand by it. the last paragraph os my second reply states very clearly my standpoint.

I'm not sure if Evel was asking the question out of wonderment, or taking a stab. My reply (In Text, with no annunciation, or emphasis) was an attempt to get an answer out of someone who knew what the ******* car was before the sawzall came out.

Go grade someone elses post. I wasn't trying to piss in your Post Oatsies.

If he was going for that late fifties, George Barris, everything but the kitchen sink, kinda east coast thing. He nailed it! Great work just gotta know when to stop. -stick

Geeez! Feel the love? To each his own. More power to you Larry. Build em like you want em. You can't please everbody....especially on this forum.
It is interesting to read the feedback, however. You know what they say about opinions being like ***holes, everybody's got one. But not everone shows it to the world, right? It's all good. db

I thought one of the purposes of building a custom was to have people ask "What is it". To have somebody look at it and start to recognize some of the main platform they started with, example the 57 chevy that is in the new R&C. Everyone says "Think outside of the box" and when they do they get chastised for it. Some of the comments on this thread is one of the reasons I'm half afraid to build a custom. Sometimes I think it's easier just to build a hotrod, less BS. I like the car, sure there are some things I would change, but I didn't build it. Congrats Larry. later shawn

I saw that old Ford and thought it was pretty sweet. It just looked a little more glossy than I would have expected. I've seen most of Larry's cars at the Ducktail over the years and he's shown up in some pretty neat rides.

I like the car..and it's definatly Larrys best..

But like Bo Huffs stuff too.. sometimes you got to step back and say,,, maybe I shouldn't add that.. it might be too much..

All in all its growing on me and I really need to see it in person...

My Opinion is worthless..BUT I have a right to an Opinion.

Looks like the HAMB will alway be the same. God forbid if someone says something about my mom now. grow up children. I love how people get upset about things around here. all cars are not for everyones taste. thats what makes this hobby what it is. don't get upset if someone doesn't like what you like.
    way to go Larry.

    plmcrzy: build your custom!
think of it this way: 2500 people have looked at this so far. that is just on the hamb. 73 comments , 50/50- like /don't like.but thats building cars. Build what you like, use the good ideas from others, and create what you want. If others like it great! if not who cares. It is what you wanted.
I like vdlarrys car, It looks like an east coast interpertation of an early barris (sam) custom. there are some things I would have done differently (more like riksters version) but thats customizing.

I like his style of builds. The ideas that come from his cars is something that you dont see on others. its about changing it up! It has a ayala, barris style to it, but a twist to it. good job man!

  16. I've seen the car in person. Like it or not, the craftsmanship is there. I like the car personally. It is over the top on some aspects but that is Larry's style.

Congrats Larry! Its a well deserved win! Listen guys, if you have never seen this car you can not judge it by pictures...believe me! This car is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I met Larry, his lovely wife, and newborn daughter at the Detroit Autorama and hung out quite a bit...hell he even striped my car while it was in the display. One hell of a pinstriper and one of the nicest guys I have ever met, PERIOD. This man has worked extremely hard for everything he has got and it has paid off. I give him serious props for a job well done! Congrats Larry you deserve it.....................and Larry if you read this be sure to pick up DEC 08 Street Rodder and read the feature on my 31, you are mentioned in the article about us meeting each other and you striping the car at the Autorama, I had to give you a plug...lol...check it out

Wow, a blast from the past, this one!

He's mentioned selling it. A couple people have been hounding him. I told him that personally, I thought he should keep it. His cars are always for sale, and mine are never for sale... :D But I still think he should keep it. It's definitely his best.

I got a chance to see this car at Autorama on set up night. The car is beautiful. I would love to own it. Yeah I might change the hubcaps, but big deal. There is a ton of work that went into this car. I was surprised to see Larry did this. I had only seen the OSR type stuff. But this car shows true talent and skill. I must also say Larry was a totally cool guy, we talked for awhile about striping and cutoms. Dont judge the guy by the crazy **** you have seen in OSR, he has talent. How many of you could build a car like that Ford?? I just noticed this is an old post, just had to vent. I get pissed when people talk smack behind a computer screen.
