A few weeks ago I posted a link for a local auction.I went there today. There were some neat cars...ruined.The guy use to park them in his backyard and leave them! You could see big holes in the floors where the moisture had accumulated and ate its way out.

I'd say that the 56 was a steller deal compared to a couple of the others.

I set up estate sales for a living now. For all the cool stuff I find, I never find or get to see stuff like this.

  15. LOL....crap I bet your right thats what sucks.
My brother in law lost out on a $800 440/auto superbird at a garage sale right down the road from his house about 13 years ago. The widow was selling everything years after her husband died and no one ever knew that there was an old car under the tarp on the back side of the house. He stopped by when he saw them loading it onto a rollback truck.

I bet the Cuda isn't for sale because "That theres tha one were a gunna fix up somday."

What did the bricklin sell for?

  17. Man, the last estate sale I went to with cars, the best thing was a '40 Ford pickup that had sat so long the frame was rotted through. The rest were a bunch of rotty Kaiser 4drs. I tried to buy a trailer made out of an AD Chevy pickup and it was frozen right into the ground, couldn't move it. In March no less.

  18. I went to an estate sale a few years back. Guy had just left his cars where they died...for like 50 years. All sorts of neat stuff starting in the late 30's up to the early 80's.

I had been up a couple weeks early to try and buy a 60 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country 9 passenger dual air station wagon (now that's a mouthfull!) but the brother wouldn't sell early. Everything was just sitting in the woods with trees grown up around them.

Went back for the auction and the owners brother had dragged almost everything except the New Yorker out of the woods with a log chain and a bulldozer. What had been savable was trashed by banging into trees and stumps. Idiot!

I got my New Yorker for 1/4 what I had offered him earlier but it took me a day to get it out of the ground and on the trailer without finishing the destruction...literally had to cut a road...:D:D:D

WTF? Ruined? Some people just dont get it, very few cars are ever 'ruined' its just if your a car guy or not I guess. I dont see any ruined cars there.

When the frames rusted, there are giant holes in the floorboard, rockers they are ruined.
    Check out the Avanti interior:

The VW looked like the Flintstone's car.Lots of places to stick you feet through. There was no floorboard left.:(

All of those cars are fixable. Floorpans can be cut out and replaced, as can rocker panels and even frame damage.

It's a shame they couldn't be kept inside but it's better that he kept them outside then they get scrapped or picked clean at a wrecking yard 25 years ago.

    Cool pictures, thanks for sharing.
