is it o.k. to post an ebay link once the auction is over ? i was watching this for a week and considered bidding on it but didn't quite know how i would want to use it... but it sure looked cool and different and i had plenty of ideas floating around in my noggin. check out... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=260289334633&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=016 anything else like this or close to keep an eye open for in the future?
That is a pretty interesting unit. I think the snout was used to hook a hose to for a cold air setup. The ban on posting Ebay adds is directed towards those who try to post links to items they have for sale if I am correct.
that's what i was thinking as well... maybe for some type of turbo or supercharger setup it'd be cool hooked into some ductwork with a filter and an airbox... then ducted through a cowl vent or a small inlet... or just stick a k&n on the snout and call it done? lot's of interesting idea's... now i'm wondering if i should have tried snagging it
And the first hit on a google search of "Offenhauser 2748" is... the HAMB http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1417660&postcount=1 Dam'n... I could look at this catalog all day long... http://www.exeterautosupply.com/Docs/Offenhauser catalog.pdf and right there it is on page #33
Maybe he should be selling them on ebay? I can't recall ever seeing one on a car though... you? It fits 4-3/16" diameter necks on "four throat carbs"
Several companies make blow-thru carb hats for turbos or superchargers stuff. Should be easy to find.
I can remember a couple of those on the shelves when I worked at Speedway in the 80's. Never sold any, but there they were collecting dust.
I just found this photo on the Cadillac engine thread. Caddie in a Studie was always a challenge. Here's the offset oil bath with the Offenhauser connection. Mystery solved.
