concerns on shipping overseas

i know this is very vague but does anyone happen to have heard of a guy named armin from germany that buys american cars from the u.s. his ebay name is uscar72 and email is american-v8 (i will keep the rest private). i am just concerned to ship my pride and joy to germany and it be a scam. he said he is going to transfer the money from his bank to mine and let it clear before i release the car. thanks nate

 

If it's your "pride and joy", why are you getting rid of it???

 

if he deposit it in your bank and it clears. I wouldn't be to worried.

 

He checks out on eBay. Unless the account is highjacked ot looks right

 

It can not be your pride and joy if you sold it.
If you have the money for it in your bank account how can you be scammed.
Worst case you get stuck with your car and the money.
Just dont get caught with the scams that promise to over pay you with a check and ask you to arrange the shipping etc.

 

Let him take full responsibility of the car as soon as you turn it over, Once its out of your hands you have no control. Take lots of pictures.

It will take about 6 working days for the bank money to come to your bank. Make sure you have it and by that i mean move it to another account at least. After that you are fine. I have sent stuff to Gemany and France although it was cylinder heads or complete race engine for example. They arranged the shipping and pick up and everything but i refused to let anything move until i had the gold. It was hard since i liked the people I was dealing with but after 40 years of this I have learned the hardway. Nothing and i mean nothing moves till i am in control of the gold. There is an old saying I used to hear about situations like this. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions. " I learned eventually to heed that and made it a hard fast rule. If you have the money for sure then it will be fine. Germans really enjoy Amerikaner Autos. On top of that they can afford to buy them. Be careful but it should be ok.

I sold my coupe to a guy in Germany. Money arrived (six days) and the bank let it sit a day...then I moved it to another account. Car arrived in Germany (ten weeks). This was a 'no sweat' deal. The guy I was dealing with comes over to US several times a year, buys stuff online....speaks excellent English, pleasure to do business with.

I have heard of scams where the check clears, but bounces later. Ask your banker.

 

Sold a car to a guy in Australia. He wired the money to my account and when the bank was satisfied I closed that account and moved the money to a new account. Bank says they will open an account for $1.00 and I can use it for that kind of deal. Sent him a bill of sale with the picture of the car on it and had it noterized, also sent the ***le. Put it in writing that once the bill of sale was mailed he owned the car and I was cancelling the insurance. If the barn burned down then it was his problem, I suggested that he contact his insurance company to make sure he was covered. His reply: "It's OK mate, not that much money anyway" Was a lot of money to me but thats another story.
