Anyone planning on being out the Boston MA way for Thanksgiving?

I offered last year to have any HAMBers at my table- no one took me up on the offer but Im resurrecting it again this year.

Dana cooks enough food for 100 people and its good too.:D (really- in 15 years she hasnt killed me yet)

With her mother now gone (she past away recently after a long 13 year battle following a stroke) , we would like to be able to do something nice that would have made her mom happy to do too.

It goes for Christmas too- our home is always open to another who doesnt have or needs....

If you are planning to be out this way PM me.

WOW! Now there's great offer from a good soul and his wife.
Good for you...the world needs more people like you.
I'm proud to be in your company here on the HAMB...:)

Great thought. Every year, I had Thanksgiving with my side of the family. My Mother-n-law lives in a retirement apartment building. A few years back, I found out a lot of the elderly had no where to go and the meals on wheels tastes like ****. So, for the past few years, I have been cooking turkey dinners for those people that had no family, or the family just plain forgot them. This will be the first year I won't be going down there. I decided to move my Mother-n-law in with me. She 93 and she's a pleasure to care for.

thanks so much for the kind words. Dana's mom suffered a stroke 13 years ago so its not like we didnt know someday the time would come that she wanted to move on.

She was an incredibly giving person and we feel its only right to continue that tradition on her behalf.

People are really good on the inside if you stop to listen. When you are met with a tragedy like this it makes you stop and realize how insignificant STUFF is and how easily you can make someone happy just by being there.

  11. Great idea, when my wife lost her mom and again with her dad it made her feel good to have lot's of people around at the holidays. We invited friends, our kids friends, and extra relatives we didn't invite in the past. She enjoys cooking and setting up for the holidays and knowing extra folks were comming helped take her mind off of her mom or dad missing from the diner.

    Hi, CHOPSHOP
I was in the ARMY (1969-1974) with a fellow from Woburn Ma. and we became great friends...
I've not even thought about him for years,I could tell ya some stories and the partying in Germany back in the early 70's.............
I'll have to get out the old address book and let you know his name and old address
If I could locate him and his family ,I would have TWO great reasons to come up to M*** for thanksgiving......MAN that would be GREAT ......
Thanks you and your Family so much for the invite......

My wife and I, plus our son and his family are going to be at the Turkey Run in Daytona. You wouldn't be willing to deliver, would you? That is a very nice gesture. Bless you and yours for your kindness.

its the least I can do to give back....there are always people out there with less that you.

Always wanted to go to Daytona and never could because of Dana's mom being sick. Maybe after this year we will do that for once so I can finally say I did and not have to regret never getting there.

    Lenny,

We go to the Turkey Run every year from Cincinnati and spend the Holiday with my father. We would love to extend the invitation to you and yours to have Thanksgiving dinner with us when you decide to come down. Our condolences to your family on your loss.

Wow, what a great gesture to all!

Its not too often you come across someone willing to open their doors, let alone on a holiday.

What a great thing indeed .My mom still cooks an early xmas dinner and serves it to the staff at the nursing home where my dad spent the last few years of his life (he p***ed away in 06 )and she still does it every year just because she got to be close to the staff up there and she likes to cook for people...
