Anybody here who has put discs on a '54-'56 Ford using V8 Maverick/Granada spindles, rotors, and calipers? I'm working on a '55 Fairlane 4 door that my parents bought new. Plan to keep it simple with mostly just some safety improvements like front disc brakes. Any lessons learned by anybody who has done the swap will be appreciated.
There are a lot if threads covering the granada brake swap. I found a bunch using the search function. I have the stuff gathered up for my fairlane, but I haven't done it yet. So I'm really no help.
ive done 2 55s. i used 76 granada spindles on the first one. u need to drill out the bottom ball joint hole . you can buy tapered reamers from speedway or go to a machine shop. the second i used 80 ish ford ltd they just bolted on with no spindel mods. if you go to the junk yard youll be suprized that most ford stuff switches over, i also so did a 64 galixie. with ltd stuff
Are you talking about the big LTD (later known as Crown Vic) or the little LTD that was a restyled Fairmount? I'm assuming you mean the big LTD since the little LTD (used to have one) had McPHerson struts. My mother has an '81 LTD. Will have to pull a wheel and take a look. Big LTD probably bigger rotors than the Granada.
Doing a 55 fairlane with Granada disk now , worked all day getting my stock steel wheels to slide on the hub . The hole in the center of the wheel was too small.
