H.A.M.B on My Classic Car right now on Speed Channel

There at the Hunnert Pile up and just mentioned the Jalopy Journal and the H.A.M.B.

 

Yeah and so far I've heard Dennis say "Rockabilly rides" and "retro rods" but has yet to volunteerly say "hot rod"

 

Watching it now. Cool rides!

 

...just tuned in to it ...... was watching "Herbie The Love Bug" when I became aware of it .......

 

he did say hot rod once, but after he asked the guy what he called his vechile, he guy said hot rod. Yeah, this is an older one, because i remember it because that was how i found out about the pileup.

 

Recognized a few cars, some club jackets and a few more faces.
Pointed out a few of you punks to my father and then they made reference to the HAMB.
Think they'll cover it again?

 

How many of ya are comin to the pileup? I've got it good, it's only 10mi from here. Less than two weeks folks !!!!!

It is on again at 2am central time if anyone is up late to watch it.

I was there last year when they filmed it but haven't seen it yet. Dennis was even downtown the friday night before with out the mustache waxed. I allmost didn't know who he was.

 

It was a great to see the HAMB getting some props. I think he did say "ratrod" right at the beginning of the segment. Who cares what he called 'em, it's nice to see the 'traditional rods' getting a little promo. Hopefully it'll bring more folks into the hobby. ...How 'bout that 16 year old kid who built his rod starting at age 13. That's fantastic.

He is bringing his film crew to Charleston, West Virginia, October 2-5 to shoot a segment at the 2008 Charleston Boulevard Rod Run & Doo Wop Show. I had to give the HAMB props, and throw in the words Traditional Rod and Custom as many times as i could.. a little education for those who don't know the difference between a rat rod and "those other cars"

 

Not sure about that guy with the big mustache. Saw him at SEMA last year and asked him how he liked the Pileup and his response was "if you think it's big now, wait until after it's on my show." Like he was gonna make the thing or something. I dunno, doesn't seem like a bad guy, but I was a bit put off by his comment.

 

Watching it now. Nice rides! This is good press for Traditiional Hot Rods.

I still h aven't seen that episode, but I did talk briefly with Dennis the night before the show. He seemed like a really nice guy that was excited about the show.

I did see some of the cars he was filming and I don't think they truly represent the Pileup, but they were goofy attention grabbers, which is what TV is all about.

The show has been growing every year... in fact, it DOUBLED in size EVERY year for the first 3-4 years. No doubt we'll see a blip from MCC, but probably more in foot traffic than actual cars we let in.
