I just bought an '82 Ski Supreme towboat. Not a hot rod but pretty traditional for a slalom ski boat. My question is is there a good starting point for setting the idle mixture screws on the block between the float bowl and the carb body? When I got the boat both screws were about 2.25 turns out and it was fat as hell at idle. I turned them in to 1.25 turns out and it idles much smoother but still pretty fat when you're standing on the platform getting your ski on. I'd like to set them to whatever the "stock" position is and then adjust all the other idle positions from there. The stock air screw covers are still in place and I would kind of prefer not to remove them if I don't need to.
    TIA, John

There really isn't a "STOCK" setting but most Holley's I've run I set the fuel screw at about 3/4s turn to start. Most carb's idle screw furnish's a air/fuel mix, Holley's are fuel only so you use a much less opening/turns out.
