The rain let up for most of the day.I was # 1045 and I would say that the turnout was good for the first show here in the rain.
The Poconos are a beautiful part of the country. I would like to go there again ... and this event may be enough to get me there next year. GoodGuys and the rain seems to be a common thing ... I hope it does not rain @ Charlotte this year ... it has in the past few years. Thanks for the photos ... I really dig the Deuce sedan. .
^^^Same I just got my truck on the road (this summer) and I hate the rain in an open wheel vehicle although the rooster tails 20 feet in the air is cool. Charlotte is one of my favorites but it can be a mudfest if it rains. The GG pocono show looked good, im such a sucker for deuce tudor highboys.
as a GG rodders rep most feed back on the location was good. but the rain did keep it from being a great show. After Rhinebeck and Pocono I'm hoping for No Rain in Boiling Green !!!! Doug
Looks like another asphalt parking lot venue AKA Hershey. I'm really looking forward to GG Bowling Green. Lots of grass and trees. Thanks for posting the photos. I really apprecaite it as it is HUGE determination whether I would attend the event in the future.
ummmm didn't anyone warn G.G. about the Poconos and rain?!? Been there for many races, sat through many rain delays! It's an official Pocono event till it rains! I would count on rain in the Poconos then Rainbeck!
ummmm didn't anyone warn G.G. about the Poconos and rain?!? I live about a 1/2 hour from the track and it did not rain 1 drop for the past two weeks prior to this show. Just bad luck I guess! It didn't start to rain until late Thursday or early Friday. We did go all 3 days and it was worth the rain just to drive around the track... One more car I forgot to post... This guy drove this in from Rochester NY. It has a 303 Olds with (4) Holley 94's...
Looks like it was a nice time. I lived out there in Marshalls Creek for a year, and it rained all the time. As I recall many of the other GG shows had the same issue (indy for one). Saving myself for some other shows (Pumpkin Run in Jersey anyone?). See you there. MRAK
Here is are few pics from the Friday .. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=297073&highlight=gg+poconos[
Denise, we would been parking more in the grass, but the heavy rain changed that. plenty of room to grow there ,alot like the Charlotte event with prettier scenery getting there. the trees and views are very nice at this time of year. only thing that worried me was all the friggan deer, almost had one for a hood ornament. hope everything is great, Doug Ps, my wife Loves your big Olds !
That's my friend Gary Buehler's car. Very sweet and driven a lot. The deuce sedan that you see next to it is also Gary's. The tub was built by Lee Osborne, while the sedan was built by Lee's cousin, John Birosh - two VERY talented builder's from the Finger Lakes region of NY. Incidentally, the dark gray primered deuce sedan seen in the photos is John Birosh's personal car. It goes everywhere all year long. and, in upstate NY with its tons of snow, that says a lot!
Just an update on the tub: It was rearended on the way home from Pocono. Gary's son was driving on I-80 at about 55-60MPH when he was rearended (!) by an Japanese guy driving on an international driver's license who needed an interpreter to tell the cops that he, indeed, did hit him at about 75MPH. Gary's son is okay but, very sore. The tub has significant damage - the fan was shoved into the radiator which was broken loose from its mount - but, Gary says it will be rebuilt and back on the road in the Spring. Man oh man, as bad as this seems, it could have been MUCH worse, all things considered. Hopefully, everything will be worked out and Gary's son will have no lasting after effects. Remember to hug your loved ones everyday and tell them you love them "Oldandkrusty"
He's the east coast version. I wonder if the people that watched him with his thumb up posing next to the truck really thought that he thought the truck was cool???
They really are good guys if they didn't turn that p.o.s. conglomeration of crap away at the door...get a backhoe and bury that pile
What the hell is that thing? I see similar "cars" more and more on the net. Is that one of those "I can build a rod for less than $200" by using an S-10 chassis? I do like the flames on this Merc, that is pretty original the way it is 3 dimensional looking. The painted grill actually works on this car too.
That is me giving the thumbs up to the Scout chassied T bucket. KIRK! could not make the show so I did the best that I could.
