Here's my 39 Pontiac, this car was purchased from a fellow Hamber. I've been working on this for a couple years on and off now. When I got it there was no engine/trans, the roof was rough chopped, Has a Nova front clip and the car was a 4 door when it started it life. It now has a 400 Pontiac and a Saginaw 4 speed, I replaced the rear end with one from a 69 Camaro. I had to remove the orig x frame as it was way too far forward and build my own. I had to come up with a way to mount the body as there were no floors at all. I built my own steering coloumn, and I have all my floor pan grid done next is the sheet metal for the floor pan. Here's some pics.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Gonna look really cool, the only thing I question is this body mount? Doesn't look all that strong.

They are 3/16 thick steel and there is 8 of them, Just on the body not counting the front end. the one in the pic is just tack welded in for mock up, they all will be fully welded.

They probably are strong enough, but it wouldn't hurt to add some gussets, just in case. A simple triangle welded to one side of each would be pretty quick and easy, and would probably be more than enough. (gussets are cool:rolleyes:)

You plan on working on that throughout the Maine winter? Looks damned good and like you're making a lot of progress. Just for giggles, can you post a side by side shot of when you got it as a 4-door and how it is now with a 2 door?

Yes I'm gonna work on it all winter, I'm hoping to drive it this coming summer. I don't have any actual pics of it as a 4 door, but this is one just like it[IMG][IMG]

Bread truck parts? I don't get it. Did bread trucks have masters under the dash? I built mine myself!

Yes. Any of those style trucks had a right angle master cylinder mounts. I had to make some slight modifications but the main parts are there. I will post some shots of mine.

Wow, Nice job of converting a more-door, I'd never caught it. I just finished building this one for a friend, makes for a large and comfy road car for sure!

I agree, whoever made it into a two door had a nice plan crafted out and it will be overlooked until parked next to a real one.
