I was able to see a 1918 Chevy Touring with a V-8 run today.Pretty cool. The owner just had the motor freshened up to get ready for the great race.
It was pretty cool watchin it, especially the exposed pushrods! The owner had a sales brochure from Chevy.......the cost was $1395. That was almost triple the cost of a Model T!
Would the owner be Luke Rizutto ?.. I had the honor of spinning the dizzy on my machine last summer for him. Imagine my suprise when the car showed up in front of my house a few days later ! After adjusting the carb a little we got it to idle down (around 250 rpm ) You can see the fan blades at idle..If you look real close you can see an oil can on the left side of the firewall. Every 200 miles or so you have to oil the exposed rockers and push rods... This car was formerly a part of the Ford museum collection . It has less than 6000 miles on the odometer. Glad to hear it's back together.. Dave
Not sure of the owners name, but that is definitly the same car your talking about. A friend of mine did the overhaul on the engine. I could not belive how well the car was taken care of.................FOR 70 YEARS! Super tiny exhaust pipes also. He mentioned he's going to tow it back east with a 58' Impala for the great race, pretty F'n cool!
