I am in danger of loosing my shop. It is a small machine shop that has been in business since 2004. I have worked very hard to over come many, many challenges, but the money is just not there right now. I just opened a plating shop that specialty is small parts and crab refinishing. but if the money does not pick up soon. It will be one more shop in the ground

  3. Well we have everything paid for. my business was getting slower and slower. So i took a part time job driving a truck for a local cattle feedlot. I was making 2 or 3 runs a week making $3 00two $600 a week. Now that has petered out made 3 runs in sept:eek:. That peterbuilt has sit in front of my house not been started in 15 day,s. My boss has not called, havent heard anything? Paid our property taxes today.I dunno what a young person with children and a morgage has to look forward to. We learned a long time ago that there is no such thing as job security. OldWolf

Tubman, I think you made some bad decisions for a fellow that close to retirement. I can't help but think that if the market was actually low when you made all these real estate investments you might be singing a different tune today. With everything costing so much in the last few years, it should have been a sign to protect your ***ets and not "risk" them. And it isn't the fault of Gingrich or the so called neo cons. It would be the so******ts who demanded that homes were sold to those who couldn't afford them nor sure have been allowed to buy them. Check Community Investment Act and see who started all this.

  6. Besides my house being worth half of what it was last year, sales of cars and parts are way down.
The price of s**** is half what it was a month ago, so there went "security money". That was always the back up to slow sales.

People right now are holding on to what they have, to feel secure if something really bad happens. But there are alot of people that have money, and it will be spent as it becomes necessary.

The people that are going to feel it the most are the providers of non-essentials. Like entertainment, fast food, travel and, I hate to say it, but hobby related businesses like ours.

At least I am not buried in debt like some, but if I cant make enough to cover what bills I do have, that wont be good.

On the flip side, alot of good deals will be popping up all over as people liquidate their toys, so you guys with the money will be scoring all the good stuff.

The facts speak for themselves. I was trying to position myself for my retirement and had no idea of what was being allowed by the investment community. I have applyed for many mortgages in my life and everytime, I had to provide 3 years of Tax Forms, 3 years of W-2s, 6 months of bank statements, and 6 months of paycheck stubs. I thought every one was being held to these standards. Guess it's my mistake. I really feel the "American Economc System" has let me down when I really needed it most. Why would any company issue a loan that had little chance of being paid back? I wouldn't.

BTW, I'm finally getting back to replacing the rusted out body mounts on my '51 Ford Coupe.

Just got my tax ***essment on our house - value went up $56k - can't wait for the taxman to come calling asking for more. But what did we do about ?? Got the Turd out and went for a drive - always makes us feel better. We'll find ways to cut back some more, but we both agreed we'll find there will be money for gas to enjoy a nice drive in the countryside - especially in the fall.

We'll be ok, it my kids that I'm really worrying about - how will they be able to do what we'vee done !!

Hope everyone gets by ok !!!

I'm poor, always been poor..but seriously, I at this point haven't noticed, mainly because I've been kinda laying low and watching what I spend for a few years now. Sad thing is, it may get worse before it gets better...

I moved this year and am carrying two mortgages. Right now I have one rented out at a $300/month loss, but who knows if they will stay.
My job looks secure, but no one knows for how long. I'd pay a lot of money for 20 minutes alone in a room with just me and Bush and a baseball bat of my choice.

    Politics doesn't fly here.

Pointing fingers will get you NO WHERE.
Everyone is at fault so might' as well keep playing with your cars and get happy and live your life.

There are a billion other Political Blogs to post and rant on, so post elsewhere.

POST Closed and get back to talking about cars.
