Before I sold my '59 I was getting mid teens around town. The year I drove it to the HAMB drags I got around 20 on that trip. Of course that was with a 4 speed and a better geared rear.

mid teens, but haven't put any highway miles on it. And the overdrive is still in pieces on the workbench.

damn, there's a knob on the dash that says C that you need to push in after it gets warmed up.

I've got the 235 chev engine (which is basically the same thing right?) in a car. I get 12-14 on the highway with a 3.55 rear gear and about 20 around town (weird huh?).

What kind of RPM s do you run on the highway?
    I have a 250 in a chevy P30 bread truck.
If it can go 3000 RPM then it will go about 60 MPH.
It is not ready for a road trip just yet.
Just hoping to get an idea of what I can expect.

My '53 has a 261, T5 and 3:55 gears, speedo is correct, and I get 22 mpg if I run between 60-65 mph on the interstate.
