Just wish I could afford the old-school media blasting he used. There must been 35 scrapers on that floorpan at one time. You just know that process eventually involved toothbrushes and sh*t. Circumstances really do make the craftsmanship extra impressive.

thanks for all the replies guys!

Just one thing...nobody really commented yet on if that metal he is using is a particularly bad base material to use for a body (assuming the parts aren't structural)

The metal looks like it may galvanized or something from the white fuzz around all of the welds. I've seen a few well known and respected builders in the states use just as much mud though. Ha ha ha

At least they didn't trailer it to the show. At least nobody can bitch about that. ha ha ha

It was worth it just to see 30 guys working on a rusted out floor all at the same time.

The roll steel was for metal stamping, varying grades and alloys available. obviously softer because of the roll. My favorite was the engine warehouse, I'm sure the "rebuild" came in a spray can though. Starting it on the street was cool.

I gotta say that I've spent some time in 3rd world countries where they make do with very little.
The cosmetics can be good but the mechanical aspect gets scary.

I loved the test drive without windshield, tail/brakelights, or any other electrical yet. Good thing they didn't run into a sacred cow... more bovine bondo would have been required.

Scary? Did you see how they put 6 in. "spacers" on the car, to space out the wheels?????
I can imagine the "precision" they were made with, in his shop!
That shit scares me, even 8000 miles away!

Man only here can someone post a link to a video like this, and 99% of the comments are all negative. They are living in the stone ages there working with brushes and like four hammers. They are going to the parts store on a horse drawn carraige.

Yes, it was super scary watching the mechanics of that thing go together and I hoped for the civilians sake it wouldn't be driven but seriously, but I think it was neat!

I for one am amazed at the work done to this car would I own or drive it no but if a guy in India with 4 hammers and some hacksaw blades can do this it serves to remind me that I really need to step up and build something cool from nothing.

watched the show on tv a couple of years back. car had no suspension and may as well have been carved out of a block of bondo.cheap labor and lots of it.but ingenious use of what's at hand.reminds me of those car books of the 50's lots of inventivness, no rules.(sound like our roots?)

I just watched those first 2 episodes and I'm shocked....

    Wow........ Just, Wow...................

I'm more impressed by this then anything custom I've seen, period. Forget style or anything, just take a hard look at the act and the actors taking into consideration their cultural education, surroundings, life history/experience etc. If you gauge their success fairly - from the perspective of their totally alien culture - anyone would be speechless. I feel like a loser now in comparison to those people. I can't even think of the words to adequately compliment those 3rd world guys on their adventures. Simply amazing... Thank you
