I love those cars. Dad had a new '64 Holiday 88 2 dr. h.t, 335 h.p. 394. It was metallic blue with white interior. Good luck with the project.

Here are some updated shots, I am stripping and p******* the top as i go and it is a very time consuming process. there is also a pic of the summit block hugger header in there it is a tight fit but it works. now i can yank the eng and trans out and clean it and paint it all up.

    Looking good dude!
Shame to go with a belly-****on SBC in an olds, but I can understand the $ situation... Do what you gotta to get it on the road, then rebuild the oldsmobile stuff as finances allow.

It's gonna be a cool driver. Keep us updated!

Hey! That's my high school ride! We ordered it new and watched it being built in Lansing Michigan: 394 engine and manual 3-on-the-tree transmission. That thing would burn rubber for a full city block!!! At least that's the way I remember it being clear back in 1965! Dad couldn't figure out why he was having to buy new tires all the time, Hah!

iam no expert but i have done a few windows using a string to pull the gasket in by putting the rubber on the window first, then putting the string(or small rope) in the gap that goes to the car,all the way around the window, start in the middle and work your way around,soap/water helps, use the string to pull the gasket lip in .i gotta tell ya i have broken a windshield doing it myself,

Lookotor.s good, I was ready to suggest running a 350R with a turbo 350 or 400 but some Olds came with the 350 Chevs a few years ago too. The same ones that the owners got a 200.00 rebate from the factory because they didn't get a "real Olds Rocket" motor. I think you made a wise choice and one has to remember that not everyone has the 3 or 4K that it would take to properly rebuild the original engine and trans even if that engine was rebuildable.

Be sure to start at the BOTTOM of the gl*** when you do the rope trick (which works really well) with your back gl***. And NO SCREWDRIVERS!!!. Ues a peice of wood like a paint stick or plastic to work the seal. You work fast. I like what you're doing.

ive never been up close to the olds but ive had two 63 impalas, of which i have 1 now. I was told by a guy that the olds of the same year is about 90% crossover with my chevy. I was told that the olds frame can be easily adapted over to fit my car to get rid of the "X" frame. I got pics of my engine cradle and motor mounts on my sbc if you need a reference.

installed the reAR window trim and used eurAthane to seal and hold the window/trim in it was popping up in the midle so i had to lift the rear and put somne weight on it till it dried. any one else have issues with rear windoe trim? i recently got my dmv work done and what a load of my mind that was. after two trips to the dmv i finally stopped trying to guess what they wanted and just answered the question's with no long explanation.

Looking good. Congrats on the nwer baby! Some of the old window trim can be "fun" to get back in, I am dreading doing mine, haves never been out of the car. I definately dig the big body cars of the 60's, before Detroit lost their style.

dropped out the tank to send out and have it cleaned and repaired and the shop here in hayward said they could not repair this tank, if the pics are hard to see the rust threw is on the bottom and the lower seem. My question now is do I try and find another shop to get a second opinion or try and get a mid to late 60's mustang tank and fab it into the ample trunk space. i think the mustang tank into the trunk might be a more cost effective way to go. any input is much appreciated.
