Just had this sent to me from Byron Stack of G***ermadness, very sad new`s KS & Lavaun are in my prayer`s. Paul . Got a call from Lavaun yesterday and she wanted me to let everyone know that KS is now in what's called ho****e care. They haven't physically moved him, but basically it's just a matter of time now before he joins Doug Cook, Big John, etc. for that big drag race in the sky. What they had thought was Alzheimer's, they are now calling vascular dementia, meaning that KS, over the last several years, has had a number of small strokes that have taken their toll on his brain. It's expected that his various organs will start shutting down soon and he'll go home for the last time. Lavaun is handling it well and is prepared (as well as anyone can be) for the end. -- <META http-equiv=Content-Language content=en-us><META content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0" name=GENERATOR><META content=FrontPage.Editor.Do***ent name=ProgId> <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /><ST1HONE o_x003a_ls="trans" phonenumber="$6291$$$"></ST1HONE>
My prayers to Lavaun and the family. He's going to a much better place. I was thrilled to have been involved with the G***er cl*** for the last 45 years, and to have been chosen to built the '33 body for Rocky's tribute car.
This is happening on a regular basis lately. It seems that all of our heros are going home for the last time. I had the pleasure of watching his car run a few times and it was a thrill. He was always at the top of the heap. I think its wonderful that the replication of his car is complete and will be around for future generations to see. My thoughts and prayers go out for him and his wife. Frank
My all time drag racing hero. I had he honor of sitting with him at the senior center in my town and going through his s**** books and listening to his stories. He still had the fire in his heart. My thoughts go out to him and his family. ****
it's sad news indeed, he is a true legen in drag racing! as for the comment of people p***ing lately.... it's there time, they were doing what we're doing before alot of us were born! i myself am proud to have met and become friends with alot of local drag pioneers here in the north east. alot of whom helped me with my vintage re-creations and restoration. the best thing these guys can hope for is that they are remembered and there contributions to the sport are not in vain. Paul
Our prayers go out to Lavaun & KS in this tough time. Attached photo is of Rocky Pirrone's first p*** in the KS Pittman Tribute car. Taken by my 10 year old son John yesterday at the Jalopy Showdown Drags at Beaver Springs Dragway in PA.
Godspeed K.S. Pitman I got see the 41 Willy of his and Stones,Wood and Cook go down the strip on a few occ***ions! It was a honor to see such history come back and put on some great shows. selah
I have a disc with him on it , and loses it in Bakersfield and hits both walls and rolls the car over ..climbs out and waves My thoughts and prayers to the family
Very sad news. I met K.S. at the first Street Rod Carlisle back in 1989 or 1990. Very nice man. He gave me an autographed photo that I still have in my office.
Can't say it any better than wetatt4u either. What a great legend. I also make aircraft and WW2 aviation a hobby, and have had the distinct honor of knowing most of the "Flying Tigers" American mercinary group that flew in China against the **** before the U.S. entered WW2. I know a bunch more veteran's like that as well, and we're losing all those guys at an alarming rate. So when you find one; tell them what an influence they have made on your life, thank them, and tell 'em you love them!
