Ok, running 43-48? Front drums, new shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware, etc

On the rear I am running a mid 70's Bronco drum rear, again all new stuff.

    New master, lines, hoses, etc.

Rears will stop up good, fronts not so good. Havent drove it this way yet but by spinning the wheels and hitting the pedal. Adjusted the front brakes.

I ***ume I need to run a proportioning valve and turn the rear brakes down? Done some reading and I dunno if it is just cause I am tired or what, but I cant make heads or tails of it! Any help would be great

  2. with drum front AND rear brakes you do not need a proportioning valve . you need to get the all the brakes fully bled and properly adjusted . what are you using for master cylinder?

Do a search on here for adjusting early Ford brakes. Sounds like the fronts need adjusted badly. There's an instruction sheet on here somewhere, and it's very helpful. Good luck.............Woody

I am running the speedway master. The front drums only have the bolts with springs for adjusting. They are the 43 up with out the encetric at the bottom like the 39-42. Or am I missing a entire element on adjusting them?

  5. the later brakes like yours do not have the adjustment on the bottom

who installed all these new parts on the front brakes? there are differences in some parts inside between early brakes and the later ones....i wonder if you have the correct parts installed correctly?!?!?!

I installed them. I "think" lol I got it all right. Do you know of any diagrams that I can look at to see fi they are right. Hell it seemed pretty simple at the time, there are some famous last owrds there:)

Where is your master mounted? If it's below the floor you need residual pressure valves.

I'm running the speedway setup brake/master with 53 chev up front and 71 bronco rear. I'm running rspv and porportioning valve, mine stop fine.
