Been AWOL for too long so now I'm home I have time to get stuck in and finish this..... Started a Chrysler 300C today (mild Kustom) and maybe tomorrow I'll also get stuck into a few others that have been in suspense for too long.
I agree, that is a great diorama. I like the Maroon type color, classic for a sled. Has than car been chopped? The proportions look so right (not cartoonish) that it is hard to tell.
Another looker, Carps. I particularly like the lowered taillamps, molded trunk, and Westergard style plate. Interesting hood treatment. And where did you get those nice headlamp buckets? Got parts for this one full scale in your garage, too? LOL. Keep em comin'!
Thanx all, for the compliments. Yup, sure is. Honduras Maroon a GM colour that was used on the best of the late forties, early fifties sleds according to my old magazines. Yup, but I can't take credit for that bit, since AMT included stock and chopped tops, plus the parts to make a roadster in the original issue of their '36 Ford kit. It's near impossible to find one now since they modified the tooling to make the five window coupe which is quite common. It's based on a car that stopped me in my tracks at Louisville last year. Although I've not fitted the appletons or added louvres to the hood sides, it's a pretty fair representative of that car. I'm away from home again, so I'll post pics of the real car if you like, when I get home. Gettin it to sit right was tricky, the kit droppexle sat it too low at front and the stock axle too high. So I trimmed the stock spring and cross member until it was right. At the back I C notched the frame, removed the stock spring and attached the axle directly to the chassis, before sticking the spring back for appearance sake. Then I discovered the tyres fouled on the body and it still didn't sit right even after I trimmed most of the inner fender etc away. So...... I trimmed the tops off the rear tyres. Now it sits just right!
They are '37 Ford from the RM coupe kit. Masde them from styrene tube, pie cut at one end to make the taper, then trimmed to fit the fenders. The headlamp buckets were a problem as nothing fitted the tube neatly. In the end I found that if I cut the headlamp unit from AMT '57 Vette in half, they were a perfect fit. I wish.
these cars are all from an ebay auction last week. the 40 ford had the pass. side headlight broken off. they were from an estate sale in umatilla oregon radical 60's stuff!
Not Mine in the photo. need to ask Kristoph if specific to the photo. 1/64 scale Hotwheels. your average blisterpack 94 cent car. mine are maroon with scallops and a surfboard in the box. Not nearly as kool as what Kristoph has done to that one.
Those hot wheels are insane... i don't see how you guys work in such a small scale, 1/24th drives me nuts as it is! Nice work Carps... you really nailed it. Jonzcustomshop: Those are incredible... really nice old customs. All I got done now that I'm getting unpacked is made some time on the Double Dog show rod... got the body in first prime and the motors assembled:
Lookin good you guys! I'm a little late, but this is what i've been up to. The revell 50 ford f-1. I have finished it, but my point and shoot camera took a crap. I haven't uploaded the build photos to my site, but i'm going to start on that now.
Some nice builds there guys. Carps, long time! But if you take another Lexus to my parents place there will be words!! The shame of my mother wanting a Jap car!! Love that 36 though, sweet! Doc.
To answer to questions: This is how it looks before It is around 2,75 inches long. Wheels come from... this one. (HW collectors now hate me) Thanks for your comments, i have a lot of admiration for you guys models builders.
Man, those Hotwheels are too cool! And the estate sale Kustoms, I'm going to have to try and duplicate some of those myself, they are too wild.
