So I got my flathead back from the machine shop (a guy in east TX) this Friday. I spent the whole weekend cleaning it up, and getting it in paint. Check out some of the photos I took along the way. You may remember, that I spent a considerable amount of time with the mini Makita Grinder making the indides and outs of this little flattie nice and smooth. The exhaust ports are all smoothed out nice, and the intake runners have been cleaned up too. This motor is getting a hot little cam and some other goodies...but first he has to clean himself up for the party. There was considerable whittling away done here, and throughout. First a bath. Note the lifter bosses drilled for easy adjustment of the Johnsons Ready for some primer...all cleaned up. Some of the Parts: Aluminum flywheel, Navaro Heads, Ross Pistons, etc.... Check out the trick Gennie mount on the bench. It's a Navarro Original design that's been in hiding for decades, resurected by H&H. Now for some Primer Shit a run....bust out the 400 grit Not too bad for my first and last fully smooth flathead Add some clear for that "eat off the table" finish Now a mental masterbate mock up Next step is to drop the crank in and other parts that make it go.
The 8BA looks killer, and sounds like it should run realllllllllllllllllll good. Keep the pictures coming.
Damn, that is one shiny coat of jet black. Love Navarro stuff as well. That gen. mount is certainly slick. Don't foget to throw a clutch disc in there, (just kidding). Keep us posted. Good luck.
It is alway an exciting time when you come to an end of a rebuild. The engine looks great. Who did you use in East Texas for the machine work. I am interested since it is in my back yard.
