My banger powered Ford A Model is o.k. for around here, but to make a 100 mile or more run it just don't get it. A buddy from work has a 1960 Squarebird thats been in a chicken house since 1972. Not in to bad of shape, white hardtop with red leather int. 352, auto, 3:10 rearend. The price seems good, but what do you guys think of them. The only ones I remember were on 77 sunset strip, and the black one Elvira drove in her movie. I like it, but have never seen many as rods. What kind of input can you all give me?..Hollywood
I personally love the square birds but I'm weird that way. Lowered a bit with some Astros, creative panel painting and a lace roof they can be killer looking customs but again, I'm weird that way.
Do a search for pictures of Larry Watson's T-Bird if you want to see a famous custom. There were a few raced in Nascar back in the day, I'll bet there's some pictures in that recent thread about vintage stock cars.
A friend of mine ran his big '07 dodge truck across the side of one sitting behind his shop. T-bird:chipped paint. Dodge-looked like someone had used a can opener on it! So as a driver, i think it would hold up ok. As far as style, Mild custom, or all out Nascar would be the way to go.
I've been using one for my daily since January. If your a tall guy it won't be a comfortable car though! I moved my seat back 4 inches and I'll still be castrated if I get in an accident!
