Below is a pic of my 62 Falcon. I'm looking for honest opinions on what else to do to it to take it to another level. I want to keep the flaked top but am up for suggestions on color change etc for the body.
I'm seeing metallic Lime Green for the body, leave the top alone. Don't care for the bellfower tips, don't fit the lines of the car, at least not as mounted. Chrome the bumpers after you smooth the bolt holes.
1. Stance: it's currently raked forward like a muscle car. It seems you're going for a custom style, so at least level the stance, or actually lean it back slightly. 2. Wheels & tires: I'd suggest pinner whitewalls instead of the wide's. Also, maybe it's just me but the tires look low profile. Is it the stock size? If not, go to a larger diameter tire. 3. As mentioned above, shave it! 4. Re-chrome the bumpers, it's giving me that monochromatic 1980's feel with them painted white. Well, just my .02 worth, and you did ask.
Ok, but you asked. The color is nice, no worries. However the bumpers need chrome, put the stock tail lights back on and lose the bellflowers. Pinner whites would be a better choice because they are more era correct and contrast better with the paint. The white walls and the white paint is just too much. The tires and the taillights are just a bit to "Doo-woppy" on a 60's car. Yes, I created a new word. That said, it's a neat little car.
The taillites just don't do anything for me on this particular car......kinda looks J.C. Whitneyish (is tha a new word??????)
I agree with others that say chrome the bumpers, never liked the painted look. Maybe some simple pinstriping along the lines on the side. Since you asked I'd go to narrow whitewalls since it's a 60's car. Or, just leave it like it is and have fun!
change the tires, taillights, chrome the bumpers, ditch the kick stands, lower is a lil more, & scallop the **** out of it same color as the roof
appreciate all the comments! exactly what I was looking for...other opinions of the car. I definately what chrome bumpers (have from day one of buying the car) and shaving is in the works for this winter.
You probably cannot stomach my opinion.....RESTRAINT is one thing that most people cannot understand. Simple is awesome.
I might look into taking the bumpers off completely and looking for more of a thinner bumper to go on the car maybe a rolled pan or leaving them off totally. Like look at the bumper on the 60 model in the ad above. See how they are thinner. Keep them thin like that but loose the upturn at each end with maybe a small wrap around. Maybe like the bumpers used on 60's vans. Skirts might be a way to make the car look quite a bit different that you can take on or off depending on your mood. Maybe a lace paintjob the same color as the roof in the side concaves. Loose the letters on the rear body panel and maybe do something with the gas cap?
i'm also for rechroming the bumpers. maybe some pinner whitewalls and some astro supremes. good looking car
Well like everyone else said.. since you asked... as far as the next level I wouldn't do anything TOO drastic.. the lights need to be put back to stock or something less 'doo-woppy'(agreed).. so thats 1.. #2 would be shaving the bolt holes and chroming those bumpers(agreed) and whatever else needed to be repolished and such. #3 I would put some 5.60's or 6.00's with the same size whitewall or one size smaller, the stance is cool, i'm not feeling the bellflower tips either(agreed), so they'd have to go or get mounted different. I think that would take you to the next level. As far as the level after that.. then i'd start shaving and considering other color options, let your 'kustom' imagination take it for a ride. BTW i've always liked the chrome reverse wheels on falcons. just another option. Anthony
drop it little more maybe 3 inches in the back and 2 in the front.chrome the bumpers and shave the handles, loose the bellflower tips
Shaving +1, Chrome bumpers +1, Get the stance level +1. Wide whites are ok but a taller profile is better. Add hubcaps. I'd add some lady liberties but I think tribars would be cool too. I like the tail lights but you need to tunnel the center part in so the tip is even with the out side. So when the lights are on it looks like the inside of a jet engine in there. Know what I mean? Paint? I'm not so good at paint but I like the color combination.
Some subtle cleanup and smoothing of the body would go a long way. Shave the door handles to clean up the doors. Shave the gas filler & backup lights to cleanup the back (but leave the "FALCON" lettering. Respace it if removing the filler makes it look wrong). Fill the seam at the bottom front of the rear 1/4 panel. shave the bumper bolts & rechrome the bumpers. I'd also ditch the belflowers. And get a set of "bottle-cap" hubcaps(***uming they'll fit, they only fit the stock 13" wheels and some '65 mustang 14" wheels). If they will fit get a set of the Comet ones, thsoe don't have the "FORD" stamped in them and look a little cleaner(I think I have a few sets, PM me if you want some). If you shave the door handles I'd suggest you leave the stock key covers on the doors, and hide the door popper ****ons in them. So you'd slide the key cover up and push the ****on to pop the door. I think that'd be pretty slick.
If you shave the handles you can just leave the vent windows unlatched. It would be more PC. I like the early bumpers with the bridge over the plate. Needs a 5-lug conversion so you can run Supremes and pinner whites. Ditch the pipes, or at least tuck em better and fill em full of injectors and spark plugs. Or screw it all and axle it! Still going to Jegs on friday nights? I'm going to be in the neighborhood and was wondering if anybody still shows up.
Chrome the bumpers, the way they are supposed to be. Leave the rest just like it is! Dont **** up a good thing you got there by changing it just to change it.
Shave the doors, trunk, and hood. chrome the bumpers, chrome reverse rims. Thats all I would do body wise. If you want more upgrade the suspension to poly or bag it. Great looking car btw
