Event Coverage No taking my car to the Pileup!

    So my car just developed a lower-end knock,no driving my car to the Pileup for me this year! This week just keeps getting ****pier and ****pier....

    Jim, atleast now you dont have to worry about what oil to put in it. Seriously, why not put a bit heavier oil in the flatty and take side roads to Morris? My grandfather drove his 35 from Chicago to Florida with a cracked block in the 40's. Grandma said they had to make sure a creek or river was close by so they could get water when needed. Never let a little motor trouble stop you from having a good time!! Who knows, maybe someone else will be taking it home! Mike

    Don`t want to chance making it worse. I was going to drive it from my sister`s in Minooka,but like I said...don`t want to start it unless i have to now.

  11. Hmmm could be a lot of things. Have you changed the oil in it, how does it look?

    are you sure its not the timing, just went through this on a sbc not a flatty, i had a friggin loud rattling noise when i puched it, figured it out last night with a little advice from R Cole on here....now its gone

    Make sure the pickup screen isnt pickup **** in the oil pan.

    Ford......FE?Fuel pump knockin'?Pull plug wires one at the time should the knock return,and it will if it's serious,that will help isolate the cylinder.

    It ended up being a timing issue. The previous owner failed to tell me that the distributor is froze and not able to adjust the timing,and when I hooked the vacuum to the distributor it advanced it too far.

    See a simple fix. David and I are leaving at about 4 AM to meet the guys for breakfast at R Place. We are going to run 55 to 80 , i dont know if that little flatty will be able to keep up but if you want to go that early , let me know. I'm gonna see if 1lowtrk wants to go early too. Mike

    So, is it an FE engine?I think even more so when you said frozen distributor.I had to put an engine hoist to one and let it sit to free up!

    **** , 5 AM aint early. Dont you know that a good nites sleep is highly overated ??? Just think about the greazzy eggs and bacon that you will eat and then have to **** out in a nasty old porta jon !!! Thats worth getting up early for aint it ??? Mike
