Gang, Wanted: I need to contact a super smart Dodge parts guy who really, really, really knows his way around the computer and how to cross-index parts. The power seat in my rod is going ***s up. It's probably from a 90's Dodge / Crysler van and I got them from a salvage yard. I have NO idea what year van they were from, but I got them in about 1997 and they were in pretty good condition. I've had it out and there are no part numbers or identifying marks anywhere on the seat or frame (that I can find) that I can refer to. Strangely enough. But I do have wiring diagram printed out for me by the old Dodge parts guy way back when. It was printed from one of the old microfiche machines. The only markings on the diagram are: AS-HK 125 and AS-HK-126 in the lower corners and 938W-7. The page numbers at the top are 8W-178 and 8W-179, which kinda reminds me of the way pages are marked in service manuals. The NEW Dodge boys are no help at all. They'd gladly sell me a new seat motor set, if I could tell them the year of the seat. Catch-22 again. Luckily, the seat is in the position I prefer. But it only goes up / down now. Can anyone help? Or perhaps if someone knows what firm made the seats for the MOPAR vans, I could contact them directly? Any help greatly appreciated. Gary
Jon, WOW... that was fast. GREATLY appreciate your reply. However... I'm out the door to stuff registration packets for the SE Nats here this weekend. Back on line about noon. I do have some good pix of the seats. Later, Gary
Jon, Here are two pix of my then stock seats. Driver was full power, pax seat was a bolt in with no adjustment at all. BTW, if anyone cares these are great seats for 37 Fords, fit perfectly, and the pax seat has a storage bin, ta boot. Thanx again, Gary
Looks like Mini van seats to me. Should be 3 motors under the brackets. One raises and lowers the rear of the seat, one raises and lowers the front of the seat and the 3rd one moves the seat forward and backwards. The motors are interchangable and cover many 90s Mopar models of cars and vans. If it still raises and lowers, then I would suspect the switch may be bad. What does it not do? Gene
Well, those aren't numbers I've seen before. I don't even think we have any "really old" service manuals. Try this, take the plastic shield cover off of the side and see if there is any kind of part number on it. Also the motors should have parts numbers on them. Dodge parts numbers are generally 7 or 8 numbers with an AA (or AB or so on) suffix depending on how many times the number has been superseded by a new one. See what you can come up with, if anything, and I'll look up the numbers when I get to work tomorrow. But I agree, they are minivan seats... and do appear to be mid 90's vintage D) but as far as I know, those seats didn't really even change up until the newest caravan/tc series in 2008(?)... but I could be wrong
Sorry for the delay getting back guys... appreciate the help. I'm gonna call them 93 Caravan seats and see if my collision shop guy can get me another motor block It does have the 3 motors. I don't have the seats out now, but I've checked for numbers on them twice in the past. If they are there, they are well disguised. The seat does not go forward and backward, the tilt and up down work. I have the wiring diagram and I know the switches / wiring is ok. I guess that one motor is open and won't move. Last time I had the seat out, I adjusted the worm manually with an electric drill and socket. More later, and thanx again, Gary
Mini vans are a dime a dozen and I would think a power seat from 87 -1999 would utilize the same base. Check it out at a junkyard.
