for getting an old engine un-stuck I have a 29 model A engine thats froze up, supposedly ran but has been sitting for years.
what have your experiences been with marvel or a diesel&kersoene mix to get things loosened up, or any other options that would work.

    Thanks

Ya know, i've tried to use MMO to free up stuck engines, but it's never worked. I think it's because all of my engines were TOO stuck though. I've had plenty of friends use MMO and get their engines unstuck with just a week of letting it soak.

Have you pulled the head off your engine? If so, how rusty are the cylinder walls? If they're way rusty, I wouldn't risk screwing up the bore. I'd just take it apart and have it honed.

i just put some marvel mystery oil in my econoline last sunday. I am going to go out today and see if it has broke loose yet. I doubt it, but we will see. It doesn't hurt to try.

My buddy swears by a 50/50 MMO/diesel fuel mix for bustin' loose stuck engines and he's resurrected some stuff other people swore was total s****.

I'm going to try your friend's special brew this weekend on my somewhat frozen 215 ford sixer...

    Thanks

I like Kroil. I buy it online. It works much faster and it is guaranteed or your money back.

    Another vote for kroil.

I'm still in awe of how well it works... it really does creep. I think the can says down to like, 5 millionths of an inch or something... worth the extra money.

Can you buy Kroil by the gallon? I know the cans are high enough. It is marvelous though. I protect it as a precious commodity.

Kroil works well. I also use a product called Open and Shut at my shop. It's made by Drummond and i've used it for everything imaginable but it has worked extremely well for seized throttle shafts. I've used it with real good results in motors to free stuck cylinders as well as rings stuck in their lands.
Kroil on the other hand has some magical ability on really stubborn motors. Good example is a flathead and a vw motor that had both been exposed to rain(for a long time) and wouldn't budge. Damn near filled them both and after a few days they budged just a bit. A couple days later a bit more and then some more till they rotated completely. Both are still running today.

So I just went out and put power to the starter again on my econoline. I was happy hear that it started to turn over. I was so stoked. Now I just got to do all the other stuff to get it running again. Step one is done though.
