The other post on Disney cartoons today reminded me that I think I saw a Disney animatied short about a guy pinstriping a light colored car. The phone rings, the painter leaves the rooom. Then two pinstripe drops of paint "start-up" and race each other all over the car leaving pinstripe tracks, to music and auto noises, no less. When the guy returns the car is done. It was a VERY, VERY cool short. For instance, if one pinstripe nerfted the other, the drop of paint that spun out would leave traces of his spin as pinstripes. Now I may have it incorrectly pegged to Disney, but I'm sure I saw this on TV in the late 50s or early 60;s. Anyone seen it? Know where I can get a copy? Thanx, Gary
Wonderful. Thanx.. now I'll try tracking down a copy. I guess the pinstripe deal was an intro to a movie rather than a short, eh? Later, Gary
Yes it had Kurt Russell in it. About a kid who was going for his driver's license. When Russell was Disney's golden child.
Checkout the "Little Blue Coupe" cartoon ('52) on Casper's link. Yet another Jalopy saved by Hot Rodders!
That was a cl***ic...the whole video/feature was pretty cool with everything from talking cars (big buick grille with a deep voice, italian cars trying to pick up on other cars, etc.)drivers education stuff, etc.
It was produced and directed by Ward Kimball, one of Disneys original "Grumpy old men" cartoon team. Kimball was a real buddy of Walt Disney and they shared a p***ion for restoring real live old steam locomotives and miniature steam trains that they rode around in Disney's back yard. Fascinating man.
