    Yea, what he said!

If it don't have roof and has a pick up bed it's probably a roadster p/u.

What about in show judging there must be somebody who can tell us how a vehicle fits into the T bucket category or how it fits into the RPU.

Side by side if say they both had boxes on the rear what separates them?

Show judging is usually T-Roadster Pickup per ISCA

Something has just occured to me, and that is maybe in general terms a RPU is a full fendered vehicle and a T bucket is never going to run fenders.
Of course then we are going to find RPU's that are fenderless but in real terms would this be a major difference?

Proportions. Roadster Pickup was something you could buy from a Ford dealer. T-bucket was always custom built.

    ...and a longer bed...

That sits nice - how'd you deal with the front end/radiator shell?

So fenders/fenderless are one of the prime differences 1st up!

The Ford roadster pickup was introduced in 1925 and continued through 1934. The open cab bodies were also used on 1-ton truck chassis in all these years.

Any good discussion which passes along correct information is worthy.

  12. I think the roadster p/u is all in the bed length

An open cab with a pickup bed, whether 12" or 60") is a Roadster Pickup, period, fenders or no fenders, hood or no hood.

  14. I still don't think a t-bucket with that short little bed is a roadster p/u, what are you going to pick up and put in that tiny little thing...lol

Maybe as the modifications have progressed on what started out as a RPU then at the top end of mod's (extreme) came the T bucket style vehicle!

So lets say the fenders went and the box was shortened etc etc.

So a RPU that is fenderless then just becomes a modified RPU but has not reached the bucket style stage!

I really thought there would have been a simple formula to ID each vehicle without this kinder faded area. That is why I suggested that the show guys would have had it all worked out by now.

If never mind means does it matter, well yes because I asked for opinions.
I figured we have heaps of traditional guys here who could have put it to bed right away, but seems not!

I am trying to pick up on the traditional vibes and so asked the question.

Fiftyv8 you got to understand that this guy is an ass hole that is always trying to start something, he has a 32 Ford that someone else built 95% of, it is not a traditional type car, he thinks if any car is not steel you ain't shit, that's my 2 cents "Doc" Parsons

Thanks Doc for the heads up.
Well since you are day ahead of us over there what can we expect this morning?
I hope it will be all good, not much good news coming our way lately.
    Lets keep this discussion traditional.

How about this one. A t-bucket pickup has a non-functional pickup bed. It usually holds a battery and gas tank only. A roadster pickup is for 1927 and later topless or fold down tops with functional pickup beds that can carry a cooler, chairs, etc.

Now this pic was posted on another Thread running and the owner calls it an RPU.
I dont have a problem with it, but it is a perfect example of where I think RPU's may end and buckets may start.

I certainly have a vision in my mind of what I think is a bucket and what I see as an RPU, but this vehicle caught my eye as being right on the border in my eyes at least.
If anything to me this more a bucket than RPU!

So what is it do you think?

Dude you awnsered your own question! Who cares if it is not set in stone, black and white, rpu or bucket! Who ever owns the car thinks its a bucket or a rpu who cares. There is no rule book for this so who cares. I don't get it, 3 pages and you are still at it, are you writing a book?

Nobody forced you to read it, seems traditional must be a little vague these days then. But gotcha any ways.

What are you the HAMB Policeman or something.
Go start your own thread, I can think of some good titles that would work for your attitude.

Go and annoy some one who deserves it...
