I thought I would start off the thread this week with some pics of my 60-63 collection. most are ebay finds, but I did build the shorty 63 when I was a kid. the twin mill altered 60 is just crazy, you have to be outside the box to think of something like that! It reminds me of some of those 60's compe***ion coupes, that were just thinly disguised sling shots, with a coupe body. It has a fuel injected 283, and a 3 duece 283 in front of that, which was another thing that you saw on some late 50's early 60's drag cars. (mixed, or mixed inducted motors)
next batch: the blue 60 (another ebay find) I posted last week, but it fits with this set. It is a super cool look into the mindset of a 60's kid! check out the bongo drums in the back, it also has a full upolstered interior, bed, and even the front wheel wells. the shifter is too much, and it has a phone. The rear bumperettes are finned valve covers!
Started working on this 1/8 scale Anglia. Not sure what my plan is for now. But these wheels and tires will be on it keith
Hey jonzcustomshop, This is a kool truck dude! I would love to build this full size. And you have given me some ideas with this one. But I really should finish the other kits that I've started. Thanks.
i was trying to finish this roadster for a local car show with a model contest today, but sometimes you just cant make deadlines. i'm proud of myself though, i havent worked on a model this much since the beginnin of the year, hopefully i get back into things.
Nice roadster ol'school29. Love the color as well as the unique deails on the ch***is. Lets go racing! jonzcustomshop, looks like a pretty good find that custom dual miil job looks like is't got 80 coats of paint.
man those are sweet, gotta love those 60 trucks. I myself have an origional 60 chevy my mom bought for me on christmas on ebay. been tryin to restore it ever since but man the blue on is sweet. Would be a shame to restore it. I think now i will have to get a new amt 60 truck to build somethin similar. Well nice scores man
Those Chevy trucks are just too frickin' cool!!!! I dig the blue custom and that '60 altered has got me thinkin' CLONE!!!!!
Jonz, thanks for finding, buying and posting those models. I was a kid building models in the 60's and that's exactly how it was. I'll try to find photos of some of mine and post them next week. By the way, I lived (and built models) in Miles City when I was a kid.
Kustom Kemps in Minature held it's annual fall meet last Saturday, October 4th. Here's a little of what was there..... You'll find more more photos at the link.... http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c214/marty1961/KKIM/Fall 2008/
That is one sick lowrider man. Well i am back and yes i am sdrodders son. Been out for a while cause of school and such but here is my 50f-1 truck, just chopped the cab, got the dodge grill from amts parts pack, molded skirts in the rear fenders and more. Here are some pics. Let me know what you think
Michaels crafts, has vinyl brick used for the halloween and christmas scenery, comes on a large roll Its made by Lemax..usually foud in the santa's wonderland area, or halloween spooky town. http://www.lemaxcollection.com/prod...&catId=20&themeId=&pid=568&curr=11&currPage=1 I couldnt wait to use it, so i unrolled it, glued it down to some 3/4 marine grade plywood (one of the many joys if getting wood s****s from my fathers shop..) I attached it to the plaster base I have show many times before in my builds.I used white craft paint and a sponge to go over the existing vinyl brick, doing so made the brick alot more accurate and in scale! Im very happy about that. I want to make a longer base..this was done kinda on the whim..longer base means less photo cropping! Il do one with color to..or i may go over this one with green or blue. I went over the plaster base with some black soot grime (make up),alcohol and ink wash, used some art sand also, i glued that down with hairspray. The dimensions are 9 inches tall and 12 inches wide..if i remember correctly Still some things to add, maybe a poster and some trash..and some moldy green towards the lower bricks.. sdrodder, that thing is cool. Nice job! Zed, I love your '61. it may be a low rider but it has an old school feel to it.
These lights can be used for a diorama or put inside the trunk of a car and run to the dash, headlights or wherever. I found them at Michael's Crafts, 2 AA batteries with a tiny switch hooked up to 10 tiny lights with 20 inches of small diameter wire. They might work better in a larger scale model like 1/16 or 1/12 because of the size of the batteries but some 1/24 trunks should be big enough to hold them. The second picture has the lights turned on. Paul
Hey guys the models this week are AWESOME!! I'm going to have to get back in the game of model building! The last few I've built I got real into the tiny details of interiors and anything I can to make them more realistic..What do you guys use for the spark plug wires in engine bays and realistic hoses? I always struggle with making my motors look as real as possible. OMEGA I really dig that garage scene with the brick, 1320Paul I'm going to have to find some of those lights!
old gold glad ya like that truck. Yeah my dad told me the same thing as he likes it so much. Maybe one day...... Still a long way to go till the model is done
Didnt know yall posted this..... Here are a couple my Dad built in 1965 The orange truck has an all hand made ch***is out of br***, with working suspension and wheels turn and roll. All the brake lines are there and wires. It won a contest in 1965 and the prize was a Yamaha Motorcycle. The other won a contest for AMT and the final judging the used slides projected and judges found that he used a revell hinge for the rear doors and they disqualified it. It has a working suspension as well as all the lines and wires. Mike
Hey! I've got a trophy like that ... I will have to see what it was for, didn't get the model though.
