I am putting the 3 speed OD back into my 56. It has a 235. I am having a hard time getting the linkages between the column and the trans. Can anyone email or post a couple photos showing the position of the trans arms (in neutral) and the routing of the first/reverse link rod. I have the shop manual and the asembly manual and it isnt clear enough for me. thanks for the help
Um, sorry can't help much. I've done 8 hour days trying to get my column shifter right and finally went to the floor (temporarily) in my '49 1/2 ton w/ '62 3 sp+od. I am going to use Heim joints (I think they're called) articulating ball and socket joints that will work a lot better over time than a hole in steel with a bent rod and cotter pin fastener. What year is your od? The later Saginaw '65 -? ods shift a whole lot crisper even though I've had this no-synchro 1st '62 od for ten years on my daily driver. A weekend isn't a whole lot of time to whirlwind a fix before getting back to work on Mon. for a dd but I can't wait to get back on the column, I just think it's the coolest! Good luck I hope you get some tri-5 guy kind of help. Will follow this to see if I can get any hints. regards, Cosmo '67 Saginaw that will get rebuilt this winter http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/49Cosmo/IM000287.jpg Good thing that several of the important items are interchangeable between the eras. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/49Cosmo/odpartstoreplace.jpg
