What is the difference between what happened at Hershey and what happens at Billetproof? Not a damn thing. On this board I have read many eletist at***udes expressed. Put downs of "street rodders" and rat rodders abound.

Well as far a billet proof i sent em a pic of my car and they didnt even reply. **** em... Thats some kinda wierd cult i dont have any interest for. Seems every show someone with a little billet gets in and everyone get a hard on... I did ask before hand though rather than go to the expense of driving to the show to get turned away... . Still this man has a ***** and i sure hope he does follow thru and id sure like to hear the result.. Now before you billet proof fans all get a hard on for me just forget it ... My opinion and its legal to have one . (At least on this board i can name another where you cant ) and this thread aint about that its about the hershey deal...

The 32 roadster is Louie's......they did pull the sticker off of that one as well, we did not argue with them but the guy did go about it all wrong. Louie was there when the guy actually pulled it.

One little sidebar to this saga that some HAMBers might appreciate. Randy Bianchi who is truly the real hot rod deal tweeked this car to make it sooooo much better than ever. He was driving at the time. I was shotgun. Like I said, just a sidebar.

the guy I dealt with was about 80 and out of control but we didnt press the issue. My 32 roadster was there as transportation only. What set him off I think was the Radir slicks and magnesium Americans.Ive been coming for years and with my normal Firestones and steel wheels and never had a problem. He definitely could have handled it in a more professional way.Oh well, most people seemed to enjoy looking at the car.Louie

I've been at Hershey for the last two days. I don't get it sometimes. There are a zillion hot rodders buying up all kinds of antique car parts to build the dreaded hotrod. There are hotrods and hotrod parts for sale in every field, including billet stuff. If they dislike rodders so much why do they go along with all of that?
BTW I bought a kick*** 49 Merc dash panel for my 41 Ford yesterday.:D

Yeah ! A good buddy of mine used to "MC" alot of the local and surrounding car shows and isn't afraid to see who's listening, he would deliberatley go up to an admittedly BEAUTIFULLY restored 20's through 40's car and say, while on the mic and everyone listening, "That's a beautiful car....wouldn't it look great Rodded !!!".

OH MY GOD ! your would have think he stood up in a packed church during m*** and dropped an F-Bomb! I think we saw a few almost stroke out !

These are the types who drive to the shows and sit in the cars all day, oh, and don't ***ume they will talk to you when they are spoken to.....not all are like this, just the chosen few.

    There are ***es everywhere.

    My perception,

I don't think they are bad mouthing hershey, I think they are bad mouthing one particular idiot who thinks he's god because he's got a golf cart. Ok the rules don't allow hot rods, but that doesn't give someone the right to act like an ***. the idiot running after him and ******ing him out, when he was simply wanting a refund, that would have involved knocking out some teeth. It's one thing to say ok your car can't be here, another to go running after someone screaming "thats the guy with the hot rod!!" when someone simply wants to get a refund and is being polite. When someone acts like that, I wouldn't want anything to do with them anyway. It gives a bad image to people in the hobby. We are all amb***adors to this hobby, and someone who's got a stick up his *** like that, may have given the wrong impression of it to a lot of people. What about the people who came to see their first show? if they saw that kind of behavior that may decide that the hobby isn't for them.

I agree with Conder, sounds like good times. You should have tried to get back in later with you driving and Randy riding shotgun, just to tweak the guy.
    Freakin' hilarious!
I saw the "police" s****ing stickers off the orange Mustang with the scoop and a 54 Chevy. Didn't see anybody s****ing stickers off of T speedsters or Model A's with overhead valve conversions though. Hmmm?
And it's not just the show. Try this. Pull into the parking lot across from the Giant Center. When the parking police point you to the left, you go right (or visa-versa). That's when the fun begins! All kinds of screamin' and hollerin'. Again, hilarious.
Seriously though, they have a huge job on their hands running that show, but they need to take it down a notch and relax. They can do it without being offensive.

After dealing with Hershey Police (Derry Township) for the past 20 years or so I wouldnt recomend this. If you think the AACA official was an ***hole wait till one with a gun and badge gets a hold of you. (For the record I like most cops, But I have never had a good experience with Derry Township Police)

Why dont they kick the guys out of the event that are from HOT ROD, ROD &CUSTOM, and STREET RODDER Magazines. I mean if they hate Hot Rods that much why would they want the event in these magazines. Seems pretty hypocritical to me. As far as Im concerned there is no reason for someone to be an ***hole about something like this. By the way Ive never been to the event, only heard about through Hot Rod mags. I would have never known it was a restored car only kind of thing.

Hershey is a mecca for old cars and parts. I don't go anymore cause I ain't building anything, but have gone and gotten some great parts and bodies in the past. The AACA oldsters are a real pain in the ***, but like someone previously said they are phasing themselves out with age. If the AACA wants to keep out hotrods, streetrods and customs it is their choice but they need to be more proactive at registration and not after someone has driven long distances to get there and be turned away because the car their driving is unacceptable. And I realize that there are people who will register one car and bring another, but they knew the rules when they registered and I have no feeling about them being turned out.

As Terrence implied, don't screw with the PA cops. I haven't found any forgiving types in all of my travels, and especially with the local types.:(

As much as I hate to see someone in the hobby get shafter like that- this is true.
    It is what it is.
Its the same as bringing an 85 Bonny to a show that advertises pre 72 only. I try to always attend the shows that will :
A): have as many years as possible so I can appreciate it all
    B) have clientele that will want to see what I do/ have
    C) welcome me with a 56 Belair with CHROME

Thats why we have so many shows- so EVERYONE will have a place for their ride. Remember back when you couldnt go to a show witha 64 Mustang? I do- it was the 80s and I was told it was TOO NEW.

Rossodino34, This was my 39th year at Hershey and around my 36-37th as a vendor. Never did the Car Corral, but it is clearly stated in the pre meet information that MODIFIED cars are NOT ALLOWED. Their club their rules. Sure there is Cl*** 24A were DO***ENTED Hot Rods that have PROOF that they RACED are to be seen on the show fields in AACA National Meets. Not AACA's fault, just read the rules on all event registration forms.

There are way more Good stories than bad. Many Hamb members Vend and Buy parts at Hershey. It is still the best show on earth. Sooner than later they will allow more street rods.

Show up with a street rod around the hamb and see if you get treated any better.

    We got h***led too
Roger (203 31 roadster) had his sticker removed in the middle of ther night. He helps set up the fields and whatnot so he's in good with the hershey region of the AACA. He went to question what happened and they informed him that the AACA will not remove a sticker, they stamp VOID on it. Therefore it being removed was not the correct way to go about it. I'm sure it was the same 80 year old guy who h***led louie and removed his sticker. This was after his car and spot number was photographed by the same guy?(i guess) I wasn't questioned driving in the gate as i placed a "not for sale" sticker on the windsheild. but on the way out on the 2nd day the security told me "they wanted to kick you guys out of here, but i told them "they paid their dues, leave them the hell alone"" i thanked him with a hardy handshake and there were no problems the rest of the week, i believe they realized that the "transportation cars" could not be regulated. We were told. if thats the car you drove in and its not for sale, then your OK.
We'll see what happens for next year i guess.

You are right, I did not read the rules. In addition, I respect that this is their party. But having attended this event for decades and seen many examples of modified cars for sale in the car corral and on various fields, the problem I encountered never occured to me. When I was thrown out I called various friends of mine who were veterans of this event and they were equally suprised. No one said to me "didn't you know that?".
Even on this site there are many mentions of all the "modified car" displays and transactions that are occuring.
In the end, the most troubling part of this saga is the random enforcement of the rules and when enforced, the incredibly nasty behavior of some of the officials. I have also seen similar anger on this web site. I don't get it, this is suppose to be fun.
