I'm not one to bitch, but this issue has me frustrated.
I've been reading all the stuff about Stockton Wheel......etc. So, I decided to use another wheel vendor, Wheel Vintiques, for my 16" Gennies.
I have come to the conclusion that all wheel manufactures are backed up! I've been waiting on a truck to get to Coker Tire for over a month from Wheel Vintiques. I've talked to several other HAMBers that had the same problem with Wheel Vintiques. It's not Coker's fault, they have their stuff - it's just waiting on the wheels. Anyway, I'm just frustrated with wheel vendors!! If they have much demand, you would think they would ramp up their production.

I've been waiting 20 months from a totally solid wheel vendor. Business is booming all over apparently.

I got mine from Bear Metal Customs (early wheel company) and Rally America , both alliance vendors and got them the day after I ordered them. They were both great!

Got mine from wheel kid. I'm completely happy.

  8. Why does every one keep leaving the fold, when the good stuff is right here? I know where I'll be getting my next made-to-order wheels.

Could have saved yourself some loot (if you're in the Alliance) and gotten great service with www.rallyamerica.com (aka wheelkid). It's Jimmy McLean and his father Gary. They've always had GREAT service and quick shipping. I recommend you try them next time.

If its not a solid ran company....and many are not, steel prices are making it very hard for them. Cash position and safety stock is key if you build anything out of steel today. Just because they take your order does not mean the material is available to build them.

Wheel Kid sounds like the solid choice. I have yet to hear a bad comment.

Rally America (wheelkid) did my wheels and shipped them to Canada (and the shipping was stupid cheap) in very quick time....2 weeks to me, including the customs delays.

Not to mention he is an alliance vender and a contributor to the HAMBANDY build...... what else do ya want. Rally America is the no brainer solution for wheels in my opinion. Thumbs up for Jimmy:)

If they were one off special order wheels they could be waiting their turn to be built.
I haven't done business with them but my buddy seems to with the super wide wheels he orders. But their business may have outgrown their production capacity.

I'll go with an alliance member and most likely order their off the shelf wheels when I switch.

They all get "vicious circle" syndrome sooner or later :-o
Hope the "kid" can stay clean of it.

My Stockton's run true and still look good after 4 years - just took 8 weeks and two returns to get them right. I thought Vintiques was okay - til now. Sounds like the kid is the best play for HAMBers.

I got mine from Early Wheel (Bear Metal) too. Custom backspace reverse steelies. Top notch customer service. Took less than a week from the time I ordered them, and we're on opposite coasts.

I dont know if i should even be typeing about this Wheel Problem.

I hear lotsa guys who have a Wheel problem & 5x as many that havent even ever ordered a wheel talking long shit about different companies.

If you have never ordered a wheel from ANY of these guys your input shouldnt even be posted on the forumn.

I have never delt with Rallye America, Vintiques, or any other wheel company other than Stockton wheel ....

    You Wanna Know Why ??

NONE, I mean ZERO, NADA of the other wheel guys would touch my CUSTOM application.

Getting a custom Off Set should be a simple task since they are all using GENERIC PRE FORMED wheel parts.

I wanted some REAL Hot Rod wheels,

'50 Merc Centers in 4" rings for the front, Reversed stock Merc rings & centers in back, But want the wheel Split & widened to 7 1/2 inches.

NO WHEEL COMPANYS I SEE LISTED ON THE H.A.M.B. would touch it, Many said the they couldnt even do it.

So i contact STOCKTON WHEEL, They said no problem, We can do it.... Yes, It took them prolly 3 mos to get them done but the Quality of the wheel is SUPERB and when i have my wheel close to a Generic Solid or one with the 10 hole bolt pattern my wheels look Kick Ass on the others.

I think alot of guys have to lost patiance and expect every thing to revolve around the the second they post an order.. I cant back anyone up for lieing to them, That part does suck.

Stockton is a small shop, Since the perform work that NONE of the other wheel guys will perform, Ill go back untill some of you other guysstep away from the Mass production parts & truely wanna build some traditional wheels for a good price.

Im not trying to up sell Stockton, Just giving my opinion & experiance and an alternitive option to those who need SPECIAL wheels and know how to deal with a company... I hade a good experiance with Frank on the $$ side, I even traded a Sun Tach to him for part payment on my rear wheels.

  19. Call the parts counter at your local Nissan store. Order one. Done.

I had a good experience with Wheel Vintiques. I was ordering a custom wheel, so I didn't expect miracles. Total wait time was about 4 months, but I'm happy with the product. Off the shelf wheels I could see having in a couple of days, but custom wheels.... be prepared to wait. Good luck guys...

  24. This may be a bit off base from the original post, but I wanted some 60's style Halibrand type wheels - and not the junk China crap that is sold today.

I contacted Pat O'Brien at Real Rodders Wheels . . . and he took care of me in a super professional manner. He makes an absolutely great product, manufactured in the good ole' USA, uses high-quality aluminum and his attention to detail is fantastic. So - if you're looking for Halibrand style wheels, check hiim out . . . he is the best producer of cast aluminum and magnesium original style wheels out there. His new "spindle mount" style front wheel works really well in a gasser style car - that needs brakes and a normal hub.

Then just talk to Cody at Hurst racing tires and get some original style pie crusts . . . now we're talkin!
