Ok so I got the oldsmobile, and have been working on it the past two days. So far I got all the lights working rebuilt the carb, it had an inch of mud in the float bowls, and the secondary venturis were stuck closed with crud sitting on top of them its a wonder it started at all. I put on new plug wires and reset the points gap, and put the car back in time someone had messed with it for some reason. Also pulled out the back seat and cleaned under it. I'm tired now but tomorrow I will do some more work.
From the looks of that car, doesn't seem as if it needs much. Mechanicals always need work, but body wise it looks great.
So I tuned on it some more today, repacked the wheel bearings greased the front end, and took it for a drive. I was surprised that it broke the tires loose. Getting closer to the big first real drive.
i have a 55 olds and i did all the same things you did and drove it from texas to wisconsin a couple days later. made it the whole way and still works. cool car.
I like it. I have a 55 but like the 54 and 56 better. They are GREAT driving cars. Put some good shocks and radials on it, and you are golden.
There a real well built car. I bought a 54 4dr. in Texas in the mid 80's Drove it from Texas to Wisconsin, kept it a couple of years and made some $$$ on it. Got about 20 mpg on the highway. And she'd move real good too for a big car. Michael
