So 2 weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a tour of the Gord Apker collection in Des Moins, WA. Anyways I thought you guys might like a look at what was there. Most were classics but there were a fair number of rods there. Here are a few teaser shots, for the other 84 of them, head on over to my site...http://groups.msn.com/hotrodscustomsandcarstuff/carshowpictures.msnw and check them out. I would post them all here but I don't want to take up too much room. Ashley Some cool flatheads... Ole Yaller 2 driven by Dan Gurney Deuce 1954 Olds F-88 GM Motorama car, only 1708 miles on it! The McGowan Brothers A, shown at pebble beach in 1997 Vintage Pedal Cars anyone? Only the belts and hoses changed since it was the cover car for the Nov. 1954 issue of Car Craft 1938 Woody
That GM Showcar makes me feel kinda funny inside . I have such a passion for the old Concept cars. I would give all my cars to own one like that F-88. My dream job would be taking car of a collection like that. I'm sure there are always new cars in progress all the time.
I'm glad you all like the pictures so much. Here are a couple more pics of the olds and some other rare ones... Front Interior Hudson Italia, only 26 hand made Here is a cool Chrysler, I forget what its called now, maybe someone out there knows 1932 or 1933 Cadillac dual cowl phaeton That's all for now!
Ahh the Oldsmovette. Performed better than the Vette, which is why it was never produced. God forbid that Olds have a performance vehicle.
thanks for sharing the pics.. I have heard about the collection from friends but seeing it is another thing..
Nice bunch of cars. I used to do alot of glass work for Gordon. Collects a little bit of everything. Pizza's been very, very good to him.............OLDBEET
Gordon Apker, swell fellow.Just the head judge of pebble Beach.Sold him a Cad/LaSalle trans once, for some old hot rod. What would you do with 100's of millions of dollars?
I think that red Chrysler is a Ghia bodied Falcon. But I thought wrong it's a 1953 Chrysler de Elegance
[ QUOTE ] Damn!!-THANKS MAN...I love those old factory Concept cars! were they functional and running cars? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, everything was functional and running. It was great day, I was the last to leave. The grounds keeper had to gently but firlmly move me along lol.He kept on turning off the lights and saying things about his wife wondering where he must be lol .
Vaphead, what would I do with 100s of millions of dollars?? Buy the biggest pizza chain in the world? OH!! Never mind!........OLDBEET

[/ QUOTE ] here are some short notes on that model http://www.vwclassic.co.uk/~l4glqcm6m1lm/vwclassic/karmann_ghia_history.htm one more pictur and some short texts rear shot.. http://www.joesherlock.com/ForestGrove.html more http://www.supercars.net/cars/1953@$Chrysler@$D'Elegance%20Ghia%20Coupeg.html one other ghia chrysler not the same model though http://www.imperialclub.com/Articles/53GhiaSpecial/ i can also add that i really love the ghia chryslers and dodges, they are just awesome i love the "dream car, prototype european styled american sports type of cars" the ghia chryslers isnpired me the most when i dreamed up how my kaiser will look like, and RPW helped putting it on paper...
is he still doing the invitation only show? I went several years, missed one and fell off the list. truely amazing collection, but the cars that come to his pickniks are pretty awsome too. every year it's a different theme, hot rods, supercars, twelve cylinders, comercial vehicles I posted a picture of the Dual Ghia (the red car) here from when it was just a stripped body. somewhere I have some more pictures too,, thanks for the picts! next year take me with you, I want to get back on the list! Paul
[ QUOTE ] Popular Science June '53 [/ QUOTE ] Great pictures!! And that 1953 car looks as if it was built in 2004.
