Thats cool. But I'll tell ya, I was disappointed not seeing a Plowboy Special in the fenced in area. :(

I have had more non running cars at the pileup than running ones. ha ha ha

  3. The show ruled again as always. For the first time I actually stayed there on Sat. night and went to the post-show party. Loved the Red Cent and the bands. Had a great time...thanks for all the hard work Czars and friends.

    1. Thanks a ton guys!! I was FINALLY able to be up at the gate not only to inspect in the morning, but also to say Thanks and Safe Trip to folks as they left. Everyone was really nice, and I think appreciated someone telling them thanks for coming.

    2. Wow Cliffy. You got HOTRODJOSH to swear on line. Wow.

    3. I think the basic thing to remember at the show if you are a volunteer is that EVERYONE is pumped up to be there. And if they get in, it's doubly so. Just remember people are excited to be there AND get in. Take a Zen pill before you get there, put on your happy face, and try to respect everyone. Even if they are an ass to you. They are still people, and more than likely just excited. The most important thing is to just HAVE FUN. I always ask everyone that. "Are you having a good time?" And it's a genuine question. If someone wasn't, I know I'd try my best to help them out, and make sure they had a great time at the show.

I'm just throwing this out there, but I take some jokes pretty well and for those who know me, my friends do pull some stuff on me. However, I do tend to get heated when someone messes with my car.
So, I'm going to leave it as an anti-theft mechanism.
Johnny Sparkle, your car is badass by the way, Friday night was the first time I've seen it... love it.
PlowBoy, 'Old Blue' is welcomed and it is understandable about the 'cleaning up afterwords' fact.

I was a pile-up virgin this year and I have to say that it was an absolutely great time. I was really nervous about taking my 52 Buick on a 500 mile round trip but I'm glad I did. Even with burnin up the rear end in "Raymond". I have my own personal thanks I wanna send out.
    1. First off and for obvious reasons, The Chrome Czars. You guys put together one of the best gatherings of Hot Rods, (I hate to use the "Car Show" moniker here 'cause this show is anything but a typical car show.)

    2. Cliffy, even though you apparently ruffled some old bird's feathers, thanks for talking me into going and giving me a place to "stay", I won't say "sleep" because I don't think anyone can sleep through that snoring, WOW! I owe you in more ways than one.......$80 right?

    3. Louver Dude, for being just an all around great guy. You were the first to throw yourself under my car in a gravel parking lot to help with my car, introducing us to many great people, and hauling Julie and I down to the Red Cent Friday night.

    4. Bob K, for finally remembering my name, of course with as many people as you know I can see how you would forget a few names. Remember, getting old sucks but it beats the alternative.

    5. Rob Paul, Old Bolts, Marty and your lovely wife for stalking us, we loved hanging out with you guys.

    6. Everyone else that we met, HAMBers are the friendliest most genuine people I have ever met and I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of such an amazing group of enthusiasts.

What an experience, I can't wait for next year, hopefully the weather will be as perfect, maybe a little cooler, but compared to what I have heard about past show's weather, I'll take it. I promise to check ALL my fluids next year. Thanks again to all my new friend's.....

I'll post my pics when my wife gets home with the camera.

Mike, I was proud to help in any way needed....

This pile-up and my first pile-up (last year) differed in so many ways. Last year I didn't know many people, was not in a car club, was not a volunteer, and wound up unning around the pile-up like a mad man taking as many pictures as I could. I did not talk to many people and I even missed the meet-n-greet. Then on Monday, I open up the HAMB and there are hundreds of pictures just like mine! Crap!

Fast forward a year and I have met soooo many great friends, am a member of a car club, and was a proud member of the "red shirts". I spent the majority of my time talking to friends, made the meet n greet, and only took about 10 pictures. Plus, I was able to see "most" of the event (as you know you can't see it all in 1 day - kinda like Disney World).

So it is I (among the rest of the Pileu-Up attendees) who should be thanking you, DW, and the rest of the Czars for creating this event, this reunion, this.. anything but a car show! Please count me in for a red shirt for years to come! -Jeff

An outstanding show! I missed last year's show and was delighted at the growth of the event and watching the evolution of a truly great show; noticing how the show is run better each time. Rather amazing seeing all the beer drinking and not one issue that I saw. The weather brought out the masses, both educated and those who have yet to graduate HCPU HS (I didn't mind the heat, as you could see more of the ladies who appreciate traditional hot rods ;) ). Also, I think that Mike just wants to wear his fancy Czar jacket anyway (if it still fits!)!

    Congrats!

Outstanding event this year The Midnite Oil Crew and the Bombers had a great time. I was there for the duration this year Fri Sat and Sun and plan on more of the same next year, Breeder I think you and I had a conversation at the Red Cent and at IHOP but I'll be damned if I can remember any of it. Excellent job guys I thought the volunteers did a great job of keeping the lines moving and I was surprised with how quickly we were in and parked. Thanks again see ya next year!

  13. If I would have known the owner or the crabby lady would have been here, I would have toned it back a bit, so I appologize for that.
We had a happy face on all day AND during our 60 second incident with her. She was crabby, we didn't push the issue, story over.
I greeted hundreds with a good morning and let the people that wanted to park in a group do so. Parking went surprisingly well and the sectators seemed was nervious but in a good mood. It gets crazy busy, but I think standing in line until 9am is all part of the game. When I did so last year, it was kind of fun actually.

I wonder if you allowed the car clubs to get in a half hour early and set up their spots if it would help the mad rush a bit?

I heard numerous people mention they popped their cherry this year. I am super glad Oshvegas Rob came along and LD, RP and I had a great time on the caravan down, even with the probs we had. I absolutely love the NE WI group we have here. Wish we all were closer to each other, but it makes for some fun trying to work out the details when we head out for Hunnert, 50's and the rest of the shows.

I have said numerous times over the last year that if all the car shows fell on one weekend, the Pile-up would get my $$. This year proved it once again. I will offer to volunteer again next year providing they will have me after I pissed off half of the state of IL.

The highlight this year was the grill Friday night in the parking lot. We HAVE to do that again next year.

Thanks to the Czars for putting on a show that is OVER THE TOP! Can't wait until next year! May get my ass kicked, but I will hold my own.

A potential $3,500. is a small price to pay for the help. The show could not have gone on without assistance from many.

Yeah, Denise is right. It's not about the money anyway.

  21. I know it's not about the money, just making a joke. I would still have volunteered even if I had to pay admission.....long as I still got a red shirt.
Seriously, you guys do WAY MORE than expected to keep the volunteers happy. Shirts are a great idea, the bottle opener KICKED ASS!!
If you had to pay workers, it would cost you that probably just in accounting fees to cut them checks.

I think Iola car show donates the wages they pay their workers to a charity of their choice. That way they not only get help at a reasonable rate, they get a HUGE write-off besides.

You didn't sneak in, we went thru the front door and paid our $5.00 with everyone else. I was just there for moral support. We stopped sneaking you in when you grew a beard! After this year, it won't be a challange any longer. :(

  25. AMEN! I felt kind of bad actually. You guys did a LOT for us. Next year I think I will have to bring something for the breakfast table, I felt like I took advantage of you. Donut, drink, t-shirt, bottle opener, stickers, free admission, come on now that is too much!! not to mention you tossed a few show shirts to a few guys. It is the people, not the cars that makes this show great. Don't go out and buy any gold chains with the $$ you made from the show!
I hope I can return the favor for the volunteers at our show next Aug. I think I will have pink shirts however. It will be funny to see all my friends in pink gay ass shirts. lol They will stick out, that is for sure.

HEBE GB - I totally met your verbal doppleganger today at lunch! Chef made braised short ribs for lunch in the cafeteria today plus there was leftover wedding cake.... it was all very yummy. My co worker said

"Dude, I just ate so much I gave myself the heebie jeebies"

    Fucking hilarious

and OT... sorry guys... you are now returned to the Pileup...
