    T5?

Do you have any pics how the drop out X member looks when connected to the trans, and lowered from the car? Trying to get my little brain around what you did. About 10 years from now, I MIGHT be able to copy your work..haahah for now, it's bent tubing and lots welds and grinds...

i'll take some pictures and post on monday.

the trans is a tremec tko-600 5 speed.if you look at the center of the crossmember you will see to diagnal lines going from top to bottom.that is where the center drops out.it has two bolts, per side, that come in from the bottom that holds it together.the part of the center crossmember that has the trapazoid shaped holes stays in the frame when the center drops out.

    i hope this makes sense.

Pretty slick arrangement with the dropout. Very clean and functional. How did you do the rivets? Are they heated and swedged against a backing bar or ???

Impressive workmanship. Makes me want to through my stuff out back and start over!!

Looks like it could've been done at the factory... but I wonder what the price of a '32 would've been if Ford had taken the time to do this level of work???

    You are truly an artist.

    Thanks for the inspiring post.

where you cant see the back of the rivets,i welded them.where you can see them i used i used a air chisel with a bit to round the heads, and used a buck bar to back it up.all of it was done cold.it is hard to heat them up and work with them at the same time.

    glad you like them.

Yeh, I think the thing i am most jealous of is your customers..!

Do you think the work you do creates the customers, or do the customers request stuff to this standard?

several years ago,i had a customer that would push me to my limits,in all ways.at the time it was soo tiring to work for him.i never knew if what i was building was what he wanted,so i would go out of my way to blow his mind.i found out, that was what he was wanting,my very best at that time in my life.that started a change in the way i build cars.following him i had another customer, that would trust me with the plan for his car.he would step back and say blow my mind, give me your best, and i did.i have worked on ten cars for him.some customers i have to continue to prove myself to them,it gets tiring, but it makes me better.other customers are friends of my customers, and they come to us because they want the same thing there buddy has.each customer i have had over the years, has made me who i am.they are the ones that deserve the credit for my builds.

our shop has become known for our ability to build a nice, well built product.with that reputation,we have been blessed with the customers we have.

that was a great question, thanks for asking.

    Excellent work!

Just curious though, when you layer the rails like that, are you going to do anything to prevent rust forming between them? It would be a shame if the finished car starts to develop streaks of rust stains down the rails because of that.

I've got it on the calendar. If life doesn't throw me any more curve balls (like the last two years) I'll be there.
