Anybody else have problems with Sanderson Headers in SFO? I ordered a set from them weeks ago and they arrived two weeks later than I was told, and when they did, they came without my turnouts. I called and was told I would have them in three days and it's been another two weeks and I still don't have 'em! I was told they were going to overnight them on Monday, and here it is Wednesday and guess what? NADA-ZIP-UHUH! Called them again and they are not on overnight at all, but on the slowest damn truck UPS can find, arriving on the 20th.(SUPPOSEDLY) The fit and finish is awesome, but damn, a little help on the Customer service side would be nice.................................................anybody else have this nightmare?
About this time last year I had an issue with cracked welds around the tubes at the cylinder head flange. I removed them and sent them in and they welded them up and re-coated them (HPC) and sent them back. I think it took a week and a half from when I shipped them to when I got them back. I am happy with them. Marty McF.
"Do a search, you'll find this is a common complaint." Ditto. My headers took over 9 weeks to get to me after the first set apparently got lost in the mail. Although they could not find a shipping record, they did me a huge favor and sent another set. Put it this way, guys are selling Sanderson headers on Ebay for the same price as Sanderson does. Mmmm Why is that? Because the actually have a set in their hand that they can sell you and ship quickly. People pay for that.
I have had nothing but fantastic service from Sanderson-they even recoated a used set that I had for free and gave me Copper Gaskets-my experiences have been very positive-
I'm doing a set of headers for a customer right now, he went to sanderson first. After 3 weeks of forms and 5-7 phone calls he was quoted $450 for his headers... Another 3 weeks goes by and he calls them for the status of his headers... No one knows who he is... Finally he talks to the right guy and he said that the headers will now cost $750 because of a drag link issue... He told them to keep the headers... I'm doing it for $375 and with him emailing me 4-5 pics and a few simple measurements I'll get the job done for him. I guess it's good for me... I hear all kinds of stories about sanderson headers...
i will never spend money on there headers. they ****..... i had mine mounted on my roadster and they cracked, called them they said i had them mounted wrong. i had rubber bushings in my hangers on 2 places for support.
Sanderson is full of good people trying to do a hell of a lot of work. They have production shop duties while also trying to handle custom jobs. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the work they perform down there. I write that because they are just down the peninsula from me. I feel for you guys across the country since me and 56 No Brakes just motor on down there for consultation or parts. Really convenient since they are almost next door to Brizios. Anyway, back to topic, for you guys that didn't get your stuff soon I can only imagine that it wasn't in stock and they had to whip up some stock. No Brakes and I had them customize a set of block huggers to work for a 409 W motor in a 32 ch***is.
ordered my headers they said two weeks ,no headers they said another two weeks ,no headers called today and they said two weeks,i said no thank you i am done with your company and got my money back!very bad company to deal with!!!
Yeah, several years ago I had a pair of headers custom built for my rod. Sent a bunch of pics, and a spec sheet expaining my mounts, ch***is, year of engine, etc. When they mocked everything up and built the headers they used a block two or three years newer than the one I specified (FE Ford) and the mounts were in a different location as anyone familiar with these engines knows. I had to send one side back several times and both actually fit like the proverbial "socks on a chicken". Between sending one side back twice and being blown off several times and never getting the header back (and spending over $800 in 1990s money) I contacted the CA Attorney General's office who sent a letter to Sanderson and I finally got my header/s. Never was happy with them as I wanted "shorties" (and thought we had discussed that on the phone prior to the fabrication) and got long/big tube headers for an FE engine in a full-fendered Model A. . .if you can imagine that!! Anyway, that's my story. Oh yeah, after I got my header/s back. . .finally, I received an "anonymous" phone call (but I recognized the voice). All they guy on the other end had to say was "You ****". Guess it takes one to make another!! Good Luck!!
I ordered a set of Sanderson shorty headers for a BBC. The collector flanges were welded in a way that would not let them fit. The collector flange interfered with the block before they would tighten up to the heads. They told me I was installing them wrong, so I sent photos. They then said it must be a tall deck block, nope, not a tall deck block. They then said they wouldn't take them back because they had been installed. It was a nightmare to deal with them! I finally got the credit card company to reverse the charges after explaining the situation. I never did get a real resolution from Sanderson, but did get the money part handled throught the card company. I won't order from them again though. Not worth the potential problems.
I ordered a zoomie header "kit" Just tubes and baffles. It took 6 weeks to get them. Then they get here and they way they were bent up made no sense. I had to cut 12" off each tube to get them close. Before I started cutting I called asking why they were done this way as they looked nothing like the ones one the web site. I was told I could send them back and it would be another 6 weeks before they would be doing that tube size. I kept them and made them work.
I just returned a set of zoomies that I got from Sanderson. The good news is that they said they would take them back without a h***le. The bad news is the quality in the first place. I have an older set of their headers that are beautiful, the new ones were zoomies with 2 shorter front pipes on the driver's side, one obviously longer pipe on the p***enger side, & all of the spacing between pipes & angles up/down & side to side was all over the place. Cosidering what I paid for them & the fact that they were already coated, I didn't want to rebuild them. The baffles they sent were cobbled out of flat washers & a section of pipe that would be very restrictive as opposed to the motorcycle baffles that are available. I was talking to a friend about this & he walked me into his garage to show me his new block huggers that he is returning. His had horrible looking welds & spatter that were then ceramic coated & shipped. I was shocked.
