I'm going to run an iPod in my coupe in place of a radio because it will be hidden. I hate seeing cd players in hot rods. I'm all for tunes, but I want them hidden. I don't want to make the glove box unusable either because the cd player is in there. The iPod will be perfect.

So since you hate it, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you're not a mac user?

yeah im not an apple fan at all.im surprised i even bought this thing.im diehard anti apple actually..anyways..i finally got it working.now the thing is bad ***.

the reason i bought it was pretty much the same reason youre thinking about it.you can get a wireless fm trannsmitter like itrip.its the perfect alternative to a cd player in a rod.and it can come in handy anywhere where you want your own music and have access to a FM radio

Let's see if I follow this correctly...

First, you make a completely off topic post. This is OK when (A) it's pertinent or at least entertaining and (B) done in moderation. Your post lacks both.

Second, you slam a product that a HAMBer helped design, only to reveal that the problem was your own inep***ude?!

    What the ****, man?

Well since we're on the subject of IPODs, the counter girl at my shop has one, and she says that it turns itself on all the time, and runs the batteries dead. Anyone else heard of this? Any ideas on a fix?

you can't figure out an ipod??? damn both my mom and my fiance figured theirs out no problem. Its amazing you can log on here and post messages. damn for it to be any easier it would take itself outta the box and set itself up for you. ipod turning on by itself?? does she have the hold switch on when shes not using it?? if not I can see that happening. when she "turns it off" does she just let it go to slep our actually hold down the play/pause ****on till it turns off. if she just lets it fall asleep its not really off and will drain the battery. even when you turn it off the battery will drain a little bit but not like if you just let it fall asleep.

the iPod is a personal music device that stores music from your cds in a mp3 format. Meaning you can store thousands of songs on the unit.

I'm thinking I will mount my amp and speakers under my package tray. The RCA cable will run either up the roof, or down in the floor up to the dash if I put in the glove box. I may run it up into the seat and I can just plug it in there, but I have the stock seat which opens forward and up, so I'm concerned that will be in the way. For power I was going to take a cig lighter power cord and cut off the end, put a fuse inline and run to the fuse box (if I don't have any fused ports available). This is all just theory at this point. I know Fastsporty has done it in his truck.

What's really funny is that you paid 400.00 for it and they just went down to 285.00. Sounds like somebody got burned by a salesman. Probably told you it was his last one and someone else was interested in it. ****ER!!!

I never bought an LP or 45 as a kid in the early 1960's becouse there was no record player to spin them on. Still haven't owned a tape, record or CD or what just made them obsolete. I often wonder how much I've saved in the past 40 years? Is there more junk music equipment or exercise equipment in your local landfill?

Django, I also didn't want to rip my glove box out just to put a cd player in my Ford. To me it seemed stupid, I wasn't about to remove a handy storage compartment, so I have to slide across the seat while driving to change cds.
Well, as luck would have it, this time last year the Ford was down for the count, and while it was on "vacation" the glove box actually fell out from under the dash. I guess that was the sign I needed. Still no stereo in it yet, but one day...unless I toss an XM in it.

I've been wanting to find a solution to the lack of tunes in my vehicle but have found 2 hurdles. 1) I'm poor...I mean...really drained as of now...but would like to get an IPod or something of the like eventually..and 2) I only have one speaker in the 60 Chevy and am hesitant to modify it since it's all original as of now.

My plan (in theory) is to get a MP3 player and create it's own hidden power source (fused) and run output audio to the sole speaker on the front dash. I don't care if it's hi-fi or not...I just want to hear the music...that's it. I'd have the MP3 player laying on the seat next to me most likely....I could do the velcro-loop attachment so can easily be mounted/dismounted from the dash but I don't think it'd look right.

Who knows. I think it's a ways off right now but right now I'm dying with no real tunes. My AM radio selection is limited to put it nicely.

Let me get this right.. an IPod can plug DIRECTLY into an amp and does not need a deck at all?

Praise the goat, this is great news.

I am electronic stupid, so bear with me.. what kind of amp would I need to buy so the IPod will hook up with it? Is there an attatchment I need to buy for the IPod or does the amp need some sort of input that is compatible?

Arizona Radio ****s! If I could have nothing but music, I would be happy.

Any news on if Apple has fixed the dirty secret about the battery situation on the new IPods? <- The main reason why I am still on the fence about it.

Amen, brother! I took the antenna off of my late model in protest. Go figure, the weather's so damn beautiful here that it still comes in loud and clear! [IMG]
