The harness in my Ranchero's fine, but I've moved a bunch of stuff around and want to re-route anyway so an off the shelf aftermarket harness would be not only expensive and excessive, but more or less useless. Where can I get a hold of lenghts of specific color wire? Are there different qualities of wire and what do I look for? Thanks
I usually get any of my wiring from darvex.com. I haven't ordered in a while, but they were able to get me spools of wire in just about any size I wanted. It was Stinger Electronics wire so it is built for the automotive environment. I have had real good luck with it. The harness that I built for my air ride on my 97 has held up nice.
shouldn't be a problem. Standard ignition company has differant colored wire by the spool in differant gauges as well. I'm sure there's lots of others besides them
home depot. i like to use the fibergl*** wrapped stove wires. i just think they look right. not period, but right
I picked up the stuff I've got spliced into it right now at Home Depot, but it's ****, real stiff and only around three colors. The fibergl*** stove wire is something I've been looking for for a while now for my bikes, thanks for that heads up. That's what the plug wires are wrapped in here, or at least mimicking: right?
If you have the option buy tinned wire . It will be silver color under the insulation instead of copper . WAY better for cars ,boats , etc, Also easier to solder . Tinned is a little harder to find but better for exposed areas . Under the dash probably would not offer much advantage .
A friend of mine builds aftermarket wiring harnesses, mainly for limo manufacturers. He has about anything you could need for making your own harness or whatever. Personally, I don't know a bunch about electrical stuff, but if I could help you out PM me. Mark
I asked for help on a similar topic a while back and got some great replies: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=178902&showall=1
