Does anyone have a good resourse, or just a list of what cars to find carbs like Stromberg 97, Holley 48, or Rochester 2G's? I've used the search tool but couldn't find anything too specific. I'm going to a really old very un-picked-over yard today and want to try to find a couple of them. It's mostly a chevy/GM yard but I know he has some Ford stashed away somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom
the Stromberg 97 , 48 , 81 and the Holley 94 are mainly from Fords of the 30's and into the 40's. my `66 chevy impala with a 283 had a Rochester 2G...so i will say they are 60's of course , a lot of rodders adapted and did a lot of stuff over the years so you never know where something will show up
Rochester GC 2 barrels were used on 55 -57 Chevy's at least and maybe later. The 2G's were for sure on 63 through the 70's. Sometimes they say 2 Jet. I think a lot of rebuild kits list the same from 55 - 64. The GC and 2G are very similar if not almost identical. Check on Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles as well. BlackCherry
The small base 2GCs were standard equipment on 1955-63 265s and 283s. In '64, they went to a divorced choke spring in the intake manifold as opposed to the air horn mounted choke that the earlier carbs have. This style was used through the early '70s on 283s, 307s, and the 210hp 327s that were used in early Camaros. You also may run across one with a factory manual choke from a 283 powered truck.
sixties cadillacs had the gc on them. they are the same as the 2g and are cheaper than hell to rebuild. Last year I bought a parts master rebuild kit for soemthing like $12. Those are gunna be the next 94 so snatch em up and sit on them.
