When you get to Cass county ther are about 25 barn builders out of work right now Lots of deals out there, My Morton building is OK but the only difference I can see is the gage of the metal and the distance between the ribs, making it unique, otherwise known as; You gota use our metal if you want to expand, OUCH. contact me by the HAMB when you get here I'll give you a list of locals, where you going to build?
Fritz, Check out Sutherlands web site. They have pole barn packages and there are probably stores close to where you will be. Like 34Toddster said, there are probably dozens of guys out of work that would put it up. Check with Sutherlands to see if they know of anyone looking for work. dusty
Contact local electric companies about what they do with their used wooden poles. Where I come from, when they replace one, the property it was on is who the old pole now belongs to. 40-50' long poles cut into several pieces make a great base for a pole barn. The one we built had 2x6s every 3 feet ran horizontal and then added sheetmetal (2nds) to the sides. Basically added a 25x26 shop on the end of a barn for around $1500.
Dude - Cass County? Where all the tornadoes blow through? LOL! And I wish I could say I was kidding! http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=2814 Here's the Sutherland Lumber site: http://sutherlands.com/ Buckle 'em down, boy! They pour a stout foundation to the pole barn, and anchor the poles to it. It makes it pretty sturdy, actually. ~Jason
