Well guys ive made a deal with my dad and I've fiured out what I want to build for a car! I'm only 15 and i know what my dream car is. To start out does anyone happen to remember the Model T coupe on TLC that the Burbank Choppers were building? Well I"m shooting for a car tht looks like that but in my ideas and looks. I want to build a later Model T coupe chopped and channeled. A z'd Model A frame with a ford 9in. and a late 1930's ford front end drilled and dropped with spindle mount rims and old wide g***er rims with wide white wall cheater slicks. Fenderless of course! Haha with a 32-34 ford truck grill. I'm lookin at a 7-8 in. chop. With a old cloth top lik some of the 60's show cars had. For the powerplant I'm thinkin about using a small block chevy with a 6x2 set up with 6 holley 94's on top. With a 3 or 4 speed ******. My dad has a frame that he will give me if i get him two 30-31 tudor doors. So i need help, with any type of parts especially those doors. Or if anyone could give me inspirational pictures of there cars or pictures they have or found form old 50's-60's or even some of your very own traditional rods. Heres my only inspirational build so far. thanks - darrin
sounds like a sick plan, im 17, we might be the only kids on here, good luck with project and sounds liek you have a family with soem intrest in hot rods, thats cool
Check out all the pics from the Hunnert Car Pileup. Sure to find some inspiration there.......click on the link. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=300982
OK.. Darrin, before you get ****ped on too much, I'll try to be nice about this. There are number of "kids" here. Some are young in age, some are just kids in their mind (me included). It sounds like you have a bunch of ideas and hopefully some help executing them. There are a lot of folks here that don't do MSN speak, so for your own sake.. try to use all the letters on the keyboard. And try to use the shift key for capitals and press the enter key once in a while to separate thoughts. We're not English-cops but it's REALLY hard for us "old" guys to read this foreign language you speak. We can probably give you more hints, tips and the inspirational pictures you are asking for if we can read your posts. Oh, use the search function to find things. Good luck with the build. Don't get discouraged if it takes longer than you thought it would (it usually does, but it's worth it in the end).
Praise-be! I can read!!! Thanks Darrin. That's better. Like I stated before.. use the search here. If that doesn't help much you can try typing in the next whole line in Google: model t coupe site:www.jalopyjournal.com Here are just a few from the HAMB. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274211 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=261913 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282438 http://www.tbucketeers.com/forum/f18/tfeverfreds-project-437/ This is mainly t-buckets and trucks but you might get some ideas from a few of them http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=272376 Good luck, Gizmo Oh... A favorite of mine is an old HotWheels T. Not a coupe but cool:
Hey.. at least the word "you" HAS a "u" in it. Man... you (or U) should see the stuff my students try to p*** off to me. I deliver IT related courses (networking, hardware repair, programming.. and ONE Tech. Writing course) at the college level. No, I am NOT an English major! That should be obvious. My issue is not with the students; it's with the school system that hasn't taught them proper Engerish since they were in grade 8 or 9. At least he's into cars, is asking questions, is on the HAMB and (more importantly) isn't using the "r" word!
hey im not a perfect speller either...but i can spell YOU..and all those other words he hacked up man that makes it so hard to read i almost gave up
That is great that the Chopper's are an inspiration to this young lad....I hope to see you keep that track of thinking....please no cut up road signs for floorboards.

Well if you know anything about amateur radio and morse code every thing is abbreviated there too it would be U for you ... Im used to it ... Dave N8DC
thanks for backing me up "U" guys i really don't need english help. I need inspirational help not critisism on spelling. thank u bt more help with inspiration will be better! haha and hey royalshifter i wasn't really wanting to do that haha! it wouldn't look "period correct."

I did not see the original post with the cryptic words but probably wouldn't have had any difficulty reading it. All you need is one or two teenagers with cell phones and a habit of texting to be able to learn the new shorthand. But since this is a forum and not a cell phone, I appreciate the extra effort put in by members who complete the whole word and also spell it correctly. Makes it easier to read and understand by us old farts.
ddpecka348, I think that you have the Right ideas about the ''T'' you want to build! As people have mentioned the SEARCH facility is Great and very useful. I think you have the vision to build what you want and if your Dad is there to help, maybe give a kick in the right direction if you go wrong!!!!! I can't offer any real help as such only encouragement, so go to it young man and make your dad and us PROUD! Nick.
Im only 19 and I built a coupe for my senior project, dont think your the only kid out there trying to build a car. All I can say is good luck and do ALOT of measuring and get a job to help pay for some parts nothing in this hobby is even close to being cheap and dont the old people on here get to you they get grumpy sometimes heres a few pics of my A coupe I built
Noland, Your ''A'' is just SICK! I'm 42yrs old, but I have faith in you KIDS! Hell your on here so that must count for something right?
What others have said is help, you throwing it back at us like this is not going to get you far. Though it is overtly clear you do need help both in spelling and grammar. Doc. (See guys, that was nice, I CAN do it)
Being a young guy myself at 20 years of age I know loads of people who use the chat wording. But I like to be free of it here on the HAMB, it doesn't take much getting used to. You'll soon realise that it's well worth it for the m*** of information found on here and the amount of helpful people. It won't hurt to do a bit of lurking around and just getting used to the place and the lingo before you dive in with posting. You will feel the difference once you've gotten the hang of how things work around here. -Andy
YEA,what he said.It is not hard to loose about 3lbs of *** on here when your not watching....good luck with your build
