Event Coverage KKOA, Denison, Texas. Oct. 24-26, 2008

Couple of more weeks and I get to go across the border again. Denison,TX is a kool
show and I kan't wait to get a dose of Kustoms and Hot Rods. Below is what I copied
off of the Kustom Kemps of America's web site.

11th Annual BLAST WITH THE PAST, Denison, Texas. Oct. 24-26, '08 (always the last
full weekend in October) Loy Lake Park, Hwy. 75 @ exit 67. Just 10-12 miles over the
Oklahoma border. Naturally we'll have the popular flea market & garage sale that kempers
dig, diggin' through. The Mercury Ring of Honor will salute any year Mercury built. It's
confirmed that the city of Denison will let us have a 8m "Cruisin' Main Street" on Friday,
so don't miss it. During the day, the "Push Rods Band" will wail, and Saturday night, it's
traditional rockabilly with Al Nelson' Roy Orbinson salute, and 22 year old Victor Treveno Jr.'
tribute to Elvis the early years. These two kats brought the house down recently in Salina at the Leadsled Spectacular.

A bunch of us will be staying at the Motel 6 in Denison rooms are cheap and a great
hangout for Friday and Saturday night. We will be driving down early Friday so we can
get there for the cruize Friday night.

We are leaving Dewey around 9:00 am (Maybe) The plan is to
meet Schindels in Gleenpool, Ok and go from there.....

 

count us in you dont mind us tagging along in the hotrod black 99 monte lol

I think I double booked a room. Let me know and it is yours.

WOW!! That would be kool! I'll need to get a bigger mirror for the Merc
so I can check out the Caddy.

We usually meet up in South Tulsa (Gleenpool, OK. McDonalds) The Schindels
and I don't know who else from Tulsa. We will head south to Denison. It is less
then four hour trip. Will leave Tulsa round 10:30am.

Let me know if that works for you. If not we are easy we can change the schedule.
I just need to get into town to eat some good Mexican food....

Mick, Do you go down 35 or back roads? Where is a good spot to meet up with you guys after glenpool? and 'bout what time? I think I would like to cruze down wit chu !!!

 

I talked to Duke yesterday and his not able to go. I have an extra room
for ya at Motel 6 in Denison.

The way that I've always have gone down is Hwy 75 to Hwy 69. I 35 runs parallel
with our route. I don't know where we could meet up?? I'll have to look at a map
to see where would can meet up......

kool thanks alot i have a long weekend ahead taking the signs to carthage,mo show saturday and miami,ok show sunday see ya travis

 

we are going to try and be there on fri. if the money holds out. we just got a room at the motel six today. all the hotels and motels are booked up good. there is a art show and a fishing tournament. hope to see everybody there. hey mick we are going to try and bring our little girl with us. are there any babysitters???lol just kidding!

Kool!! Hopefully we will get the chance to see ya, if not I understand about the money. Babysitter should not be a problem. as cute as your girl is I would think every mom at the show would have to take car of her....

Picking ya up in Dewey would be kool. Still got to check with my friends up north to see when they will cruize through town. We can't leave until we get through our kid's doctor appt. Looks like we will leave around 10:30 am.

I'll work out the schedule a let ya know.

I wonder if I can get Renee to hang out the Merc and take some more action shots of the Caddy?? Probably not..... My mind is already on the road.

Is this an open event for spectators, or just participants ? I don't see on the website and want to come check out the cars, but $30 entry is too steep .

Thanks man ! It will probably be Sunday when I drive up. I plan on hitting LaGrave swap meet Saturday morning for a front axle set-up for the '25 Dodge Bros roadster I am building and forming from scratch.

thanks had a great weekend but im dragging this week plus my computer crashed when i got back home sunday hopefully it will be fixed tommrow night had to come to my uncles cause i was bidding on some things on ebay thanks again travis
