  2. Great link...thanks for posting it. I've seen P-51's at EAA air shows at Oshkosh, Lakeland and Wright-Patterson AFB and am always impressed with the men and machines.

    Root,
Thank you so much for posting that link.

I am by no means an aviation buff but I have tremendous respect for the men who flew and fought in those planes in fce of the horrible losses suffered, as well as for the men who designed it and the men and women who built it. If it weren't for them we would all be living in a different world.

    Thanks again, Ted

Damn you Root,,now I have gotten misty eyed early this morning,,

Having lost my dad a few years ago,,who wan't a ace pilot, only a gunner on B-17's and knowing what those brave young men went through,,,it is a true tribute to the bravery and honor they so richly deserve!

    Thank you Root,,HRP

Another example of why that was the "Greatest Generation". Jim and his fellow soldiers are dying at a rate of 1,000 a day. Not long from now the last one will leave us. It's sad to see the country they built deteriorating like it has the last several years.
More money, more toys, less reverence for the history and legacy.:(

I hope he will absorb how great the WWII generation was by exposing him to the machines and books that influenced me.

Aviation is my first love. I only got into old cars as I couldn't afford a plane. I was at the Columbia IL Fly-in Sunday and saw this beautiful Waco YOC

Here is a pic of it I found on the web.

  17. Thanks for that Chris....That made my morning. 8)

I saw "Feburary" and 81 other P-51's at "Gathering of Mustangs" in Sept '07.

If you didn't make it, you missed history.

But some was captured on Video, Check it!

  19. I've been "Blessed" having riden in two different P-51's for a few hours... "Petie 2nd" and "Donna-Mite"... (Thanks Tony & the late **** James)

Every time I go to an airshow... I seek out the Veterans and chat with them and try to get their photographs and an autographs while "Thanking them for their services"!

In formation with some freinds... T-6's, (T-34, & a Yak not shown)

and two I've been tinkering with... (DC-3)

And one I would like to see in the air again... Black Widow!

Here's a little compulation I put together from my Cell phone... you'll see one of the the P-51's I've riden in as well as a "Chippy" and the T-6's... Enjoy...!

Absotutely awesome and thanks so much for posting the link. The video is well done and says a lot about those men and that very cool plane. There's nothing like the sound of a Merlin in the morning 'ceptin' maybe one or more of them round engines.

AN fittings and fasteners, adel clamps, braided stainless hoses, beautiful sheet metal, these are the things we brought into our racing and street rod world. Now if we can just measure up to brave and humble men like Jim........................

Some pics of Jack Roush and a couple of his buddies flying over one of our races (NMRA=O/T)...This is over Milan Dragway. He did it again when we were there for the NMCA event, but I can't seem to find those images.

Bokmarked here too. Awesome job on the video tribute! I am fortunate
enough to be next to Fantasy of Flight here in Florida and yes, this
greatest generation is leaving us fast. But you would have to be clueless
not to get a lump in your throat to see these old men(and women) taken
back to their glory days. A real feat sometimes to get these guys hoisted
back into the ****pit to watch them close their eyes and point out all the
controls. I've seen Dolittle's Raiders reunions,Muskeegee Airman conventions,
Flying Tigers,WASP's etc. Watched Tex Hill(Flying Tigers) strapped into a
two-place P40 Warhawk for his first stick time in-type in maybe 60 yrs.
I realize that I pimp this place a bunch, but it really is a must see for any
aviation buffs and 3 weeks from now is their big show.
