I'm heading to an auction in a week or so and one of the things I am casually looking for is a Model T roadster cowl. Just so I don't get caught up in auction fever and overbid, what should one of these reasonably sell for in decent condition? (And I guess I'll also ask what they go for in excellent condition - I'm an optimist!) Please no "Whatever you'll pay for it" responses: I want to know the reasonable market value so I don't p*** up a bargain AND so I don't screw myself.
I would not go over $100. You can still find bodies for $250. Doors are the kicker. Pay what you need to for a cherry door!
I really don't think there is a difference between the roadster, touring, or RPU cowls? I've had a couple and the touring and roadster cowls I had looked exactly the same.
i paid 400( actually 250 and a pair of a body buckets) for a tourer cowl rough doors and midle pannel. for trhe next rod( t rpu on a A frame)
the stancions are getting pricey too so look for a good set....i bought two 1/2 touring bodys w/doors and one set of stancions for 600$....500 us
Thanks for all the info. I wasn't worried about whether or not it was roadster, tourer, or RPU, but I'm glad to know they're all pretty much the same anyway.
You betcha! I even called today to clarify the starting time (parts and memorabilia at 10am, cars probably around 1pm) and bidder registration. I'm getting excited about the auction, which means I will probably come home empty handed and complaining about the idiots bidding things too high!
