I lucked out when a guy was closing his garage to move closer to his kids and scored a '66 200 out of a crustang. He wanted it gone like yesterday. It even came with a good C-4. The stock 144 in my comet was tired. Logically this leads to a quick engine swap. So we started it one morning and expected to finish the next...
So what's the rest of the story? Especially with the T5 in the thread. Find out that trans mounts are in differnt places, linkages differences, etc. ? Come on man, fill us in
Logic would dictate if I had the engine out I should replace the clutch and have the flywheel turned. I was looking forward to the 30 extra ponies from the new engine. That would help with the highway speeds. My buddy said we should put in a t-5 to help the new engine. He even had one in the shed with an adapter for a ford six bell! How much fabrication and shade tree engineering would this take? new pilot bearing clutch relocate floor and tunnel brace cross member yoke drive shaft
pilot bearing-Napa part #6202-2RSJ clutch-you can use a the clutch from a 1988 t-bird turbo coupe but you have to have the pressure plate relieved to fit the the hub and only run an 8" clutch or have it built at Kay Cee Clutch. They put an inch and sixteenth-ten spline in the stock friction disc tunnel brace-moved it forward about 4" cross member-a little flat stock and a mig welder (not to mention some one who can use it) Yoke-six cylinder C-4 yoke works like a dream Drive shaft-Amazingly the stock one worked Clutch linkage-bone stock works We should have her running this week.
who is the fat guy in the pics ? he looks like he needs a beer !!!! adapter came from modern driveline , the worst part is cutting out the floor brace , with all the mud & grease & no lift .!!!!!! chuckie is too scared to weld !!!!!!!
Well its done ......after a front end rebuild, trip to exhaust shop & lot of little stuff. it runs great, the old six loves the extra gears !!!!!!
